Recently voted top in a well-known German national magazine poll, Felix Kröcher is a pioneering and respected techno DJ/Producer making serious waves in the European club scene. Still only in his early twenties, he has gone about his business methodically and conscientiously, earning himself a deserved place on the international DJ map.
I’m sure that you have many career highlights but are there any in particular that stick out in your mind?
‘Well I would say the biggest highlight for me is that I am doing something that I enjoy - DJing! A few of my career highlights have been the Love Parade parties in Berlin and Dortmund, Mayday, Nature One, several of my gigs in Asia, Monegros in Spain. I could go on and on.’
Your recent collaboration with Eric Sneo on the ‘Connected’ album and tour has proved hugely successful for you both, is there anyone else you would particularly like to work with?
‘I would really like to work with Chris Liebing because he has really inspired me for many years. Others I would perhaps like to work with are Speedy J, Josh Wink, Radio Slave or Dubfire.’
You must be a very busy man with the radio show, the label, your gigs, organising & promoting your monthly event, your studio productions and your family.
How do you find time for it all?
‘It’s just a matter of good organization. This is the life I’ve made for myself and I’m never unhappy with the work involved because I enjoy it all so much.’
You have DJ’ed all other the world. Do you have a favourite place to play?
‘Well... I’m actually a big city junkie! I love living the high life in the cities that never sleep. Tokyo is one of my favourite places!’
With the Internet rapidly changing the channels of music distribution, what do you predict will happen? As a record label owner, do you plan to continue pressing vinyl or do you think you might eventually move to a digital label?
‘In my opinion I think that all labels will move towards digital distribution in the end. Sadly, sooner or later, I shall to. I know it will be hard for people to let go of vinyl but it’s becoming more and more difficult for labels to release vinyl.’
