OK I’ll admit it. I’ve never really been a big fan of Phil Kieran’s productions. Overproduced and obvious, the constant inclusion of pointless lyrics or rocky undertones usually leaves me reaching for the eject switch. This new album on Sven Vath’s Cocoon Recordings however, has turned that around completely. ‘Shh’ is an astonishing piece of work, with all Phil’s production talents finally coming together in exactly the right way. It’s credible and edgy from the off, clever and risky at precisely the right points. Twists and turns a plenty, there’s such a range of skill here. It’s almost incredible that the same producer is involved in it all. 5/5
