The label that’s brought us a whole series of Northern classics over the last few years is back with a relentless four track EP that would even have Vera Duckworth quaking in her boots. The main two tracks here are from Carl Taylor and Black Dog. Carl’s is a typical Detroit affair with moody strings and distant futuristic feel accompanied by an up tempo and driving backbone. But the real winner here is by Black Dog in the form of ‘Tesco (Dark House)’. These Dog guys really know how to pour on the emotion and with a breakdown that leaves every single hair on the back of your neck begging for mercy, this will be one of those you cant stop going back to. 4/5 MARK EG
