It makes me soooo frickin angry when people take the piss out of Trance/Techno.
When people ask me "what you lisen to?" an I say techno, I hate the stereotype they give it, like that crap about 'big fish little fish, cardboardbox'
were I live everyone has got their head so far up Garage musics arse, they wana be gangsters, shoot people etc etc.
It really does F@CK me off when people say that garage is the way foward.
And if you even talk about lisnin to trance, people are like"yeah man,you heard dj Sammy Heaven, thats phat"NICE ONE!
I might have gone off on one, but am I the only one who gets this sort of sh@t?

yeah happens a lot, doesnt bother me now. My good friends who dont like techno or trance just accept the music i like...and im pretty acceptive of any ones tastes as long as its not down to a trend...ie most garage heads - who incidently telling them garage is just girls drum and bass winds them up quite well.

I'll have to admit I don't dislike garage... probably coz I like Hip Hop aswell and I used to listen to drum and bass. I don't like the gang culture that goes with it though. Some people I know suddenly thing they're the badgers knadgers now coz they mix this stuff but their attitude towards other music and people stinks.

I usually find that most people don't actually know what proper techno is, and if I say i play hard trance they think of me liking 'scooter' , 'ian van dahl' , or some other cheese. It does pis* me off, but I don't care what anyone else thinks anymore and play for my own pleasure.

the 'trance' you see in the charts like lasgo etc seems to be all about the image of looking cool, i think this is cos its the kind of music that some people associate with clubbing and drugs. if you see it on top of the pops (not something i make a habit of watching, honest!!!), the emphasis isn't on the dj its on the blonde bird singing and the dancers, which proves that this is not dance music its pop music.
thats why this forum is so good-other people who understand what the word trance actually means!!

but when i say i like metal ppl always diss slipknot or something - i dont listen to that at all. im into hardcore and death metal, no one outside the scene knows any of the bands i like tho so its not worth explaining. just leave those who choose to take the piss to their own stupid crappy little world.

I get it all the time and it doesn't bother me one bit!!!
F**k 'Um All and turn it up a bit louder every time they moan.....that's what i do.

yeah i see what you're saying, it would be boring if everyone liked the same tunes, but it would be nice if they bothered to listed before they slagged it off just cause its not what they're into! the more they moan, the louder ill play it!! :P

totally...

i like loads of different styles and i'm proud of it... i don't pigeon hole anyone unless i understand that particular sound. but i'll never slag them off if i don't like it...

the only sound i really hate with a passion is manufactured crap with no soul or originality. yet i wouldn't tell ppl that liked it that they don't understand true music. there's a place in life for any style.

This era is all about electisism, there's so much good music out there at the moment...plus the vaults from the past. There's is always going to be music catered for the mass population who just want a track cos it was on a TV advert, cos they heard it down at their local or cos they think the Top 40 is full of great music (hmmmmm).

The only music i can't seem to get into is opera and that deep south country music - but who knows, maybe one day :?

Good dance music comes from the underground movement and thats what makes it so special.

Learn to ignore the ignorant toss-pots, they're the ones missing out.

no matter what you listen to, you are always gonna have people dissing it, most of my mates think i`m weird because i`m into electro, they just don`t understand it.

just listen to what you like, that`s all that matters.

not to be a gaywad or anything, but you complain about people stereotyping tranceheads and the like, and in the very same sentence you stereotype people who listen to garage.... PEOPLE PEOPLE WHY ARE WE FIGHTING????

Elle

Yeah mate i totally agree, we cant expect people to respect our music tastes unless we don't respect theirs.
also, has anyone been in a situation where they've dissed the music a mate listens to so much that their mate ends up trying to copy the music they like, and jumping on the wagon just cause they think its the 'in' thing to do???!
this is much, much more annoying than having people slag it off!!
and leads to people who dont really have a clue listening to the likes of lasgo etc because they think it makes them cool.

I can't stand the statement "this much style is the way forward..." it's utter rubbish. All styles will go forward in it's own way... and which ever chooses to be popular with the general public is of no concequence to which is "best". I don't try and fight this though, I just get on with my life and love the music I like.

Everybody has different tastes, and good job or else the world would be a very boring place. I never confine myself to one type of music, i'll listen to anything - you never know you might like it. I have my opinions on some forms of music, but I'd never present my opinion as a fact. I cannot stand it when someone says 'nah, thats crap' about something I like, it just winds me up. Saying 'nah, I don't like it' or even 'I think it's crap' would not bother me in the slightest.

yer ave gotta agree, a few years back i wouldnt listen to anything but Trance/Harcore etc, and after meetin my missus and speding alot of time with her in her bedroom, (as you do) i started listening to all different types of music, from rap to rock to nu metal, to indie, it kinda of opened up my eyes (well ears) to all different aspects of music, and i can honestly say that take my attitude a few years back to the likes of moshers/indie heads, it was F**kin sh*t could'nt stand them, did'nt have time for them, and basically thought there music was shite!!

Then i decided to go to the reading festival, which is mainly Rock/Rap/Indie, and i have to say i met some of the soundest people there. Glastonbury be is exactly the same. Now my opinion on all forms of music is exactly the same, give it a go, not your style, leave it to the people that do enjoy it.. Dont take the piss

It just goes to show that most people, who stereotype a certain person for there taste in music, or how they live there life. Are simply arrogant and imature.. And need to grow up!!

There said my piece.. (relief)

P.S. Would i be a hypocrite if i said, flip & fill, Dj sammy etc!! are all s**te, when will they ever run out of Happy Hardcore classics to remake! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE
SORRY
