I've been playing/listening to techno for 6 years and definately it was Prolekult.I also remember a track on boscabeats that was really funky techno and not trance,i'll go and have a rummage to see which one it is.......

It was the casper pound mix of 'New World Order',man what a wicked track i havent played this for donkeys years!!

I think my first "proper" techno record would have been on Soma. A Space DJz release called Lights. I had other techno stuff kicking about but this one really caught my attention.

I was into the early SUF stuff in a big way as well. The Rabbit's Name Was... on SUF 14 was my first one and got me hooked. That was after hearing the liberator sound for the first time at an outdoor rezerection.

when i first began buying techno records, i didnt look for a specific label or artist, because i had little knowledge of the genre. i tell you something though, i wish i picked my records as randomly as i did when i first got into techno. reaching for the same labels/artists is a very bad habit.

I was into jungle, experimental and minimal techno way before I ever knew what "swechno" was. I was listening to stuff like Force Inc. and Plastikboy for a long time. It wasn't until about '99 when I found labels like Drumcode, Inside, and Kanzleramt that I decided to switch solely to techno.

yeah, I got into techno via industrial music, so I guess stuff like KK records releases, and various industrial experimental stuff like KodeIV and Numb etc got me into it. But I liked everything, Goa, Psy, House, Breaks. I just focused on techno when I got involved in raves.

Take out the Trash on Boscaland and the Trash Compactor remix of K90's Species on Boscaland as well... That was a great label.

Got into "Rave" in the early nineties, which became more specifically hardcore, jungle and subsequently techno. Some DJs whose tapes etc. shaped my taste included Easygroove, Cox, Nasty, DJ Dag, Pablo Gargano. I enjoyed trance at one stage too, when I started to buy records initially it was labels like Eye Q, Platipus, Tresor, Harthouse, Force Inc.

for me it was from the london style sound - but not really SUF more the acid trance - some phoneix rising stuff etc - also lots of german acid trance from 96 - i have a bad problem of liking so many styles..

i still buy psy on vinyl, i still buy the odd acid trance number.. i just buy what i like you know! i even own a kylie record..

But hey its what floats ya boat right!

Started off on Acid Trance. Stuff like Choci and Nostrum on Noom, Time Unlimited. X-trax turned me onto Acid Techno.

Got into the drummy stuff via Shufflemaster remixing Spektrum Weltweit on Tresor. After that I was in the shop every week going "more like that!" and coming home with all kinds of Drumcode, Phont, Spielzeug Schallplatten, Primate, etc.

first three records i bought were

midnight club tracks 2
Umek- kilevox ep
Drumcode 02

to this day all three always put a smile on my face

The actual records that got me into techno were
steve rachmad- tia na nong(rotation) and woody McBride- Huge (bush)

it was after a techno event whilst listening to these that i thought this shit is really powerful.

Besides all the stuff I never knew and will prolly never know, it was definately Underworlds "Rez" in about 93. Damn dude, I mean losing your shit to that in Detroit back then? It was the "Positive Education" before "Positive Education"!!

I still cream about finding sets from those eras for nostalgia.

Damn.

I was just learning there was something besides rock and jazz back then!

"THE FIRST CHAPTER" on XL and "In Order To Dance 2" on R&S.

i purchased both at sister ray records in soho in 1990. must have cost £45. i distinctly remember my dad remarking on how these new "compact discs" seemed ridiculously expensive but inevitably would go down in price in the future. lol.

Think it was Routemaster, though the first techno track I heard was called 'Medicine Man', can't remember who did it though. Think my mate had it on white label. First techno track I bought was something on planet rhythm. It was 7 years ago now though, so can't remember what it was.

They've kinda fallen off the track recently but yeah agreed there's so many amazing records to have come out on it, from the early Fred stuff right up to the Clemens Neufield "1001" record. Last few years has got a bit retro/cheesy sounding but I'd still keep an ear out... the Mr.G remix a couple of years back for instance I really liked.
