D1 Recording’s MODEL ONE club are delighted to play host to the world renowned French DJ LAURENT GARNIER on Friday 11th June at Traffic nightclub on Middle Abbey Street.
Laurent has been a long time fan and supporter of D1’s music over the past 9 years and has expressed a keen interest in playing at the club for sometime now. He rarely plays at events of this size, during his most recent appearance in Dublin last year, he played headline to nearly 8,000 people at the Point Depot. Considering Traffic’s capacity has been strictly limited to 300 for the night this will certainly be one of those rare not to be missed nights. Tickets are only €20 & the club starts earlier than normal on the night at 9pm. People are advised to get in as early as possible!
Born in Boulogne Sur Seine, France in 1966, Laurent Garnier is the most renowned French DJ in the world.
Garnier moved to the UK in the 80's and started off as resident at the prestigious Manchester Hacienda club, being one of the first Europeans to mix American House music in Britain. He later opened the famous Wake Up! Club at Paris.
Laurent Garnier became one of the most significant names in the Trance and Rave scene of the mid 90's, and in 1995 founded the F Communications label with Eric Morand, producing his first album "Shot in the Dark", which is an Acid House classic. His ten year residency in the Rex club [Paris] was recently marked by an exclusive live performance from Detroits Undergound Resistance.
Garnier has worked also under the aliases of Alaska, and Dune (with Pascal FEOS), & moved in different directions from Electro to Ambient and Underground Techno, also working with artists such as BLACK DOG, DJ HELL, JOHN ACQUAVIVA, JUNO REACTOR, LFO, PASCAL FEOS, and SYSTEM 7.
Supporting Laurent on the night downstairs @ Model One will be D1 Resident Eamonn Doyle. Also playing on the night upstairs in the bar @ Fullstop will be Five Green Circle [Live] plus Mark Clarke and Ross Carew.
