hi

any fans here of the older hardcore tunes on labels like GBT and Stompin Choonz? i have a pretty nice collection of this stuff, but the newer releases have left me a bit cold. they don't sound very hardcore any more, and have become more like sped-up hardtrance with acid lines. i think Kev Energy is a great DJ, and i don't understand why his collective took a step backwards in creativity (though the production is much better than most of the old stuff).

i'm a BIG fan of Helix, too bad he disappeared some time ago. also really like the stuff Austin Reynolds and Jim Sullivan engineered in the late 90s (early Nu Energy, Bonkers, Digital Beats). there are some rather mint tracks from that period.

chuck some dutch stuff into the mix (Cenobite & Bionic), and it gets mental

I wouldnt say theyve taken a step back, the sound has definately progressed.Alot of Freeform has gone on the harder egde with producers like AMS, devastate, in effect all making S**t hot hard freeform imo. There is definately more trance influenced stuff around though and yeh not all of its amazing but some of it is stop on E.G carbon based, oli g, tazz, concept etc.

and yeh abit of gabba/hardcore techno goes nicely at the end of a freeform set
