Hello There

Right...I'll be honest...I know that I'm an opinionated soul, but I get sent loads of this style of music to review and I have to say It's the biggest load of shit I have heard and now a lot of my favourite Hardstyle labels such as Dance Pollution, Imp Music etc are putting out this kind of crap as remixes. I'm worried that this style is popular abroad meaning loads of labels will release this crap.

Seriously, the kicks on these tunes are piss weak and the most basic kick you can find in a program like Impulse Tracker or even Octamed sounds harder. There is a distinct lack of melody and I am sick to death of the sheer lack of quality in production when lots of my stuff and talented other producers stuff isnt coming out

I'll give you an example of what i class as utter shit
- http://germantrance.com/content/_rams/POLL252B.ram
- http://217.158.65.110/MP3/SF98184-01-01-01.mp3
- http://www.impmusic.nl/limed.htm - top track

I hope im not ****ed for thinking these are piss poor pieces of crap that shouldnt have entered an already over saturated market. Mark, Voorheez, Corbzy, K-Front, Hakka etc what are your thoughts?

These labels are all capable of producing quality and have just i hope this isnt a turn of events for the worse

My opinion anyway

Rant over....

this style has been popular in holland for ages, i think its the style gizmo and Darkraver play (not sure though).
Its deffo not my kinda style and a lot of it seems like its just been threw together.

Those are some POOR examples.

There are man jumpstyle and jumpstyle influenced tracks that have much more energy too them.

The DJ Jorn release on QDANCE for example. Even a few of the Groucho releases like "Solar Phase" are *very* well produced.

just like every genre, you'll find shite. But just cuz all you've found is shite, it does'nt mean it's all shite. You just got to dig deeper.

Heard a Dark Raver mix recently it did nothing for me. Almost Doomcore with a hint of cheese.

i remember back when bonzai started the 'bonzai jumps' label in the mid 90's and i became aware of what the 'jump' sounds was. this new jump stuff is just the same ethos to me but produced even worse. i wont be buying it.

It's not really my sort of thing, but some tracks have been exeptions to that. My view is just leave it be if you don't like it, it obviously has a market in Europe, Belgium in particular I believe, so no real need for us to judge it.

Hi Louk... think I mentioned this genre before on this thread... has my comments in there.

I find most jump style just no where near enough what I like.

Jump is just another name for the releases on Underground Construction. It evolved from chicago techno/house only less intelligent.

And since the hardstyle scene lacks inspiration/variation and keeps using old samples used in hardcore tracks, a lot of people are now getting bored with hardstyle and "discover" jump. So it gets popular and now the hardstyle labels see their incomes decreasing they also add jump to their releases..

And now they are going to milk this and exploit it.

Jumpstyle is getting more and more popular in Holland.. it's even being picked up by the more commercial public due to the fact that is played a lot on major Hardstyle parties.

Most of it is crap imho, some of the tunes are okay. But they don't hit my snare as much as hardstyle does.

I like these:
Greg C - Get Off (http://data.recess.nl/audio/B/A/baba020-a1.ram?aa8bc893df83e251d83abf2bdeaae016)
Sturgeon - Blow your mind (http://data.recess.nl/audio/S/T/st4303-a2.ram?aa8bc893df83e251d83abf2bdeaae016)

btw it's not exactly the same as Darkraver & Gizmo have played for ages.
They played oldschool hardcore from 1994 and onward and nowadays they sometimes combine it with jumpstyle.
This is a good oldschool hardcore example:
Steve Shit - Come on Y'all (unfortunately no sample)
