Another recording problem in Cubase SX2

We are getting there, thanks for all the help so far guys - after one problem gets solved another on springs up:

When we recorded in SX1 the sound quality of the recorded track was exactly the same as the track we are recording. In SX2 the recorded track is much quieter than the track that is being recorded. It needs to be normalized but then the output starts clipping.

What is causing this and how do we correct it?

Any help would be appreciated.

go into the mixers input channel U got a small knob on top, press ctrl and then adjust the knob 'till u get the best input level u can without clipping!
