just wondering how you guys make your basslines and lead strings?

i personally use Cubase SX and trigger most of my basslines by playing melodies with the keyboard manually, and same as with my lead strings, but i hear alot of cool lines can come randomly if you route your instrument to SX's built in step designer and press the random button.

Anyone else do this?

im trying to discover more ways to get nice leads

like yourself my main communication of ideas is through my controller keyboard but a good way tocome up with some kind of random riffs and such is to take one note andtap in a rhythm, preferibly fairly alternating like say 4 bars worth, quantize then go into the midi section just recorded and change some key notes throughout.
