I liked it too - tho I think it would look better if you made the template stretch to 100% width :)

On our local techno forums, our board is setup so you have 5 minutes to edit your post. This is a good medium because a) it allows you to fix typos or inconsistencies and b) give you 5 minutes to really think your post over and determine if you really wanted to post what you did. From time to time, it eliminates people from becoming assholes or making remarks that sound better in your head than on screen. Plus within 5 minutes, how much backpeddling can you possibly do?

MARKEG

thats a really good idea. let me look and see if there's a way i can do that.

yeah i like that idea.

not keen on anything permanent though. although if it had to be this way, i think making it exclusive to the promotional forums is a good idea.

Yes, but the thing is...if you have an edit button available at all times, people can go and retract their statements at the first page in a 20 page thread. With 5 minutes, they won't be able to retract their statement that started the whole mess. They may however, be able to retract another idiotic statement they made on say, page 8 because it was only 5 minutes prior. I don't think 5 minutes is really going to make or break anybody here on the forum. Usually if you want to delete/edit a post that is starting a lot of shit, it usually comes with a huge arguement afterwords, so the 5 minute thing could apply to the whole forum I guess.

Groovy
Could be wider though

i like this slimline design, it means i can have my favs to the left of me, whilst still being able to see the full screen. where as before i could not.

MARKEG
29-07-2004, 12:37 AM
i think that these days on forums it looks like slimline might be the way to go. but obviously i wanted to keep it nice and light but still give it a little bit of design. the old forum looked old to me, bulky and a little out of date. that's why i felt i had to improve it.

i massively appreciate anyone's critisism - cause that's the only way this board is going to get better. the main comments so far are the logo size and the slimness. let's keep em coming. i've made a new short term forum for this type of chat and i'd really appreciate your input - cause at the end of the day this is primariliy a techno forum and especailly those who read this post (hard techno forum members) are really valued in the way I design this.

the new design looks good, more refined. Just needs a little bit more width maybe a bigger font size.

schlongfingers
29-07-2004, 07:17 AM
Really like it, but yep would prefer it to be wider - 50% of space is wasted on my screen.

Looks wicked though.

I think this looks brilliant, and I'm all for the slim design as I usually have my fav's open as Col said.

Excellent! :rambo:

Maybe have two skins, slim and wide, shouldn't be a prob to implement..
