you cant burn streamed files to cd. streaming is a bit like watching TV. you cant rewind TV and watch it later. you have to record as its playing. well streamed files arnt saved anywhere, but you can record the mix while its streaming (which is a bit more complicated so i wont go into it just yet)

as for a program to play streamed files. it really depends on the source of the file. i say this because some websites prefer to stream with 'Real Player' where as others prefer 'Media Player' and others liek 'Quick Time'. most sites will give a link to the website do download the appropiate program. but for now goto http://www.quicktime.com and downlaod the free player. also downlaod winamp http://www.winamp.com if you dont already have it (as shoutcast is the most popular method of DJ streams and winamp is probably the easiest way to play shoutcast streams)

punk, you'll need about a gig of hard disk space, an audio recorder (not windows sound recorder as that has a cut off limit!!) and a cd writer and software for it (which i'm assuming you already have)

deffinatly download winamp though ( http://www.winamp.com ) as its more than likey they're using shoutcast.

infact, better still, get them to record it. its not much more effort for them as they have to stream it out in the 1st place

^ if he uses total recorder he doesnt need that much space.

http://www.highcriteria.com/

other products that can record streams is Wavelabs.

I used total recorder for awhile till i got my creative audigy card and started using there proprietary stream recorder, wich is convient and i like.

Punk, dont feel "dumb", that doesnt make ya know where near that level.

oh yeah, Real Player is made for streaming audio, it will do that well, *cough* , urm, well, they use to suck actually lol.
At least on 56k streaming can be pretty bad.
watch out for those .ram .ra files! those are real audio files.
i like shoutcast much better and .m3u streams.
