yeah, usually 4/4, i think anything other than that will throw a dj off right? won't that mess up the timing?

if a tune is worth playing then i'm sure the DJ will find a way of playing it. too many tracks are written to be DJ friendly imo

yeah, i agree with that, a lot are made being dj friendly, but i guess its not a bad thing, since most of the play will be in clubs/events, etc...

i think you loose a cirtain degree of quality though when you start making things too DJ friendly. most of my favourite tracks are bitches to mix.

I`ve done loads.
I`ve got a 3/4 track that could easily mix into 4/4, although the phrasing and changes will occur in odd places.

Everyhting I am doing now contains a lot of polyrythms. Various different timings over 4/4

It`s great and really changes the groove.
Makes programming a lot more complex, but I really, can`t get back into straight 4/4 now.

Providing you're making a track that is intended to be danced to, I think working in too complicated a signature can be counter productive...

3/4 & 6/8 can work well & I imagine 5/4 & 7/4 could sound interesting & still keep a solid groove, but for me anything much more complex than this just would n't have enough flow...
