View Full Version : Mixing Desk...mmm ?

can anyone advise me what would be a good mixing desk for a small studio set up, looking for a 16 channel ...was looking at the Mackie 1642 VLZ Pro, but the guy at Digital village recommended the new mackie Onyx...can any one give us a bit of help or advice ...please ;)

you'll find mackie detractors but fact is they are reliable as hell and excellent quality for the market space.

the onyx is nice, sure, but do you want the firewire (option)? if not, the vlz will do you.

I was thinking the same thing, i think the guy at digital village was just trying to get some extra cash out of me...cheers mate ;)

I have a Mackie 16 channel 8Bus mixer. I absolutely love it to death.. only thing I wish is that it was a 32 channel :lol:

I bet the Onyx mixers are nice... but if you don't need firewire I'd suggest looking on eBay for a used 8bus.

i'm using a Yamaha V01 myself.
Real confort with mixing, compressing and adding some FX,
allready pre-programmed inside the desk.
You can also program your own settings, and save like a 100 mixing presets.

i have a 1604 and a 01v there are both execellet in their own right,

dont know which one i'd pick if i had to

and you can pick them both up pretty cheap second hand now
