haha, a funny one this and in no way connected to porn....

whats ur favourite type of hard? u know what i mean, there are the obvious hard subgenres like Schranz etc, but whats ur favourite?

mine wud have to be the more subtle hardness thats out there, ideally Surgeon. Not instantly banging at times, or fast (as alot of people seem to think is a requiem for hardness) but that shit cuts deeper than any schranz or german records u can get ur hands on.

im not slagging any types of hard techno by the way, i love it all really.

Hardness with intelligence, thats what im after ;)

Depends on the mood really. Sometimes i'm buzzing with energy and want something with pace (especially if the music has been building up to it all night). Other times i want something slower, but with more and heavier layers.

definately joe, the point i was trying to make! without taking anything away from the schranz lot, but the dark stuff has alot more depth, meaning and personal feelings to it than the latest german bangy bangy record....

anything by Wunsch, Mulero, Exium, Surgeon, Regis, Female etc etc just cuts that little bit deeper for me

yeah i mean i have seen surgeon twice lately once at locked and at throb and seen mulero and wunsch a few times too and every time i seen these guys i just thought this is easily the best music i have heard imo of course. Just my opinion of couse but you can't beat a surgeon set

i like the more hard but clean hard, if ya know what im saying. some hard stuff for me is too hard, like the sound does'nt punch through clean enough, loads of distosion and loads of compression and when mixing it sounds like the rig is gonna blow up, no disrespect to it though, its just my opinion and what my ears hear. i love to hear really thrash techno, but just dont go for it myself, unless its cleaner sounding. i remeber i bought some early Blitzkrieg stuff from Robert Natus, and **** me, it was so hard and distroted i could'nt really hear what was goin on, mad shit...but my brother loved it...!

tiago, without disrespecting the artists youve mentioned (i have records from all of them in my box) they are the exact types of techno producers that, in my opinion, lack the intelligence we talk about!

they are all very talented yes, but besides maybe Pet Duo who i think have the most talent there, but they also make some of the most less intelligent music thats out there i think... all good, but just doesnt have the thought and depth as say the likes of Wunsch, Mulero etc etc..... hardness but with darkkkneesss too, well thought out, deep, dark synth lines and programming

Oliver Ho used to be the king of this,
Ruskin was a champion of it too. The harder stuff with a thought process behind it I believe it the task that most of us are putting ourselves to these days. It's not a matter of claiming who's subgenre reigns supreme, it's a matter of standing apart from the crowd, and being distinctive.

2 wikid examples there dude, Ho's earlier stuff on meta had thought oozing out of it, and Ruskin's always been up there

I think I was misunderstood .... When I said music with inteligence , I said it to Greg Silver´s music .....
The other names are my favorites djs in Hard Techno !!!!! I agree with u ....

ahh yes i get u, i think Greg and the skulltunes crew inject more humour than intelligence into their music....

i loved that "kids" record that was out, think that was from Mike Dust, that was wikid

DJ Amok and Seema are my favorites! Skulltunes made very cool tunes, too, but they lack off something I think!

yeah for sure i like the german hard stuff, but i can see it for what it is and my personal preference is stuff with more depth, soul n heart to it.

but both amok and seema rock it, for sure

yeh definatly Sugeon type gear dark sounds intelligent drum programing a bit minnimal.this stuffs more about hard industrial sounds, energy and the percussion just keeps driving in to your head so your mind and soul are dancing not your body this sh*ts so good for mixing creating energy and mood it puts you (or me at least) in some sort of zen like heads down combat zone.has anyone heard the"for Kosivo LP"(i think thats what its called)Beyer,Surgeon,Ruskin,Carrolla,Advent ect.im realy in to the surgeon track or chris liebing"next try ep"Chris Liebing "STIGMATA 10"is cool too

am also in to Leo Laker,Sven Wittiken, amok,Mark n Chrissi and all that kinda vibe plus driving stuff like Lars Klien,M.Burkatt the label Audio assault has a good driving sound too

but the deeper sound mooves me on a different level

p.s. forgot to mention Headroom

lately i've been really enjoying hard/dark stuff that uses lots of weird chopped up samples in between/behind the beats. i love it when it seems like there is a whole song squashed into every quarter note.

Stuff that sounds like mutant robots have taken over the world, destroying the sun leaving mankind in a world of darkness and mechanical fury. Think Terence Fixmer meets Surgeon meets Front 242 meets James Ruskin.

At the end of the day imo to get the most out of hard stuff youve just got to mix it all up no matter what kind of hard techno it is.

so i guess my fave hard is the sort a dj can create with a good mixture of varied hardrecords.

Good point. dude

4 me hard tekk should have very heavy and energetic, pounding bass, the track must be dark, wild and should be a matrix of the most dark feelings from my brain.

The top bass: James Kinetic, Ant, Glenn Wilson

The top mid range sounds : Surgeon and many other minimal-like tekk producers

Lately, i'm also interested in the mayhem music, its kinda new 4 me, especially i'm impressed by those filtered human voices
