what a superb night that was, just got up after a hard earned kiperoonie.... I, and everyone else ive spoke to, thought John Berry was pretty poor, he was obviously hammered (which is fine of course, but if it mars the djing then hmmmmm) and he let a few very loose mixes rattle on by

was very happy with how Bren and I played, really really enjoyed it and i absolutely love playing last set in there, its too much fun

was good to see old bugger and nats raving away

good lads.....good to hear it went so well. was it busy?

superconductor last night was good after a few early blips.....(cloakroom shut by 1130 and obvious overcrowding within the club) after the 12 chime though things seemed to settle a fair bit and once surgeon was 30 minutes into his set the room seemed to empty a bit keeping it busy but this time some room to dance.
surgeon hammered it with some quality tracks going in there....loads of classics that had the room goin off it.

caught the whole of dan moores set and although some if it wasnt really my bag there were some serious classics dropped in there.

was overall a good un more so made up by the company kept all night....some quality good laddage lurking within the building.

good old john getting wrecked before he goes on as usual. can't believe he still gets booked when anyone who ever went to the orbit or asks anyone who went will tell you that will happen. can't be arsed to comment on superconductor same old same old.

unfortunately ive heard nothing but negative reports from Superconductor, and about Surgeon, must have been an off night? u boys should of stayed local and came to Voodoo ;)

Tiptoe
02-01-2005, 01:38 PM
wouldn't have said it was an off night its just the majority of people there would of wanted a banging set from start to finish cos thats what most of the leeds/wakefield crowd like but superconductor asked him to be really experimental so he only banged it for half an hour.

Frank Dogshit
02-01-2005, 02:21 PM
whoevers told you that scott there obviously either braindead or having some kind of problem with there ears.....surgeon was excellent on friday and played a really diverse set.

far more professional display on his laptop than some pist up clown fooling around with a bag of old player records. ;)

just sayin what a mate told me on msn last night thats all, said he played alot more experimental stuff that didnt seem to go down well... im sure he was superb, im an avid Surgeon fan as u know and dropped a couple of his tracks at Voodoo myself

What kind of stuff did he play the Tip?

it was really slow at the start and then for most of his set was just really breaky. not dancefloor stuff at sall which is what the majority of people came to hear.

Eddie

Voodoo was unbelievably good fun.

steve sheils was class, never been too fond of him, but he was absolutely bangin. John Berry was possibly the most hammered man in the club and his mixing wasnt the best. Bren and scott tore the place apart at the end.

The club itself was really busy until about midnight, then it began to empty out which was good in a way as there was more room to dance.

There was a bit off trouble tho, some lad got hit and one of the cdj's was robbed.

It was partly experimental but there were pockets of his set that were really tough. I remember just after Red 1 he banged it out proper for about 45 minutes......some amazing stuff gettin knocked out.

Aye he did bang it at times but it don’t count for shit when you haven’t even got any room to move to it. You wouldn’t of even had a clue it had gone 12 if ya didn’t look at your watch, may as well of been any other weekend. Very disappointed. Wont be going back there in a hurry.

I was at superconductor and I had a superb night.

I didnt have a problem with the overcrowding simply because I found a spot in the corner downstairs. T'was still the same music as upstairs. As for upstairs lol like a ****in sweat shop, glad I kept out of it. Really nice sound system in there tho

Surgeon wasnt any good? Waa hahaha. He played exactly how hes been playing all year. Experimental not the usual boom boom

It would have been nice if they had a rig in what had become the chill out (outside bit) like last NYE. Then it wouldn’t have been so busy in the main room.

Or even having the main room in the outside bit as there seems to be much more space
