Friday Feb 4th
Two Events – One Night
On Friday February 4th Premonition presents two massive events in one night. In addition to our regular Plymouth event at the Candy Store, Feb 4th sees Premonition’s new monthly Newquay events launched at one of Cornwall’s best venues, Tall Trees.
To celebrate this special night Premonition is flying from Italy and Switzerland both members of the world’s biggest Hardstyle/HardTrance DJ & production team, The Trance Generators, to play at both events. Trance Generators bring with them £500 worth of Future Sound Corporation cds to give away!
Trance Generators are the globally acclaimed nu-skool leaders in Hardstyle/Hard Trance and founding fathers of the Future Sound Corporation record label. From their humble beginnings back in 2000, The Trance Generators team set on delivering the hardest, most captivating, pounding beats the world had ever experienced - quickly infiltrating the world's trance and hard trance scene and introducing the listeners to a new sound.
In a surprisingly short period of time Trance Generators have established themselves as a solid European force in today's dance industry, with over 30 sell out releases.
Their hard, staccato style of trance has captured the world, and has led the Trance Generators team to consistently tour the globe to promote their sound.
Newquay
The Infiltrators join Trance Generators in the main room at Tall Trees. After an amazing first year as a duo, and having already played massive sets alongside the likes of Blutonium Boy, Trance Generators and The Organ Donors, the Infiltrators are sure to blow up in a big way in 2005. Don’t miss their debut set in Cornwall at Premonition’s first Cornish event…
Next on the bill is K-Front who’s unique blend of Hard Uplifting Trance & nu style gabba made massive waves in 2004 and earnt him a series of huge sets across the country alongside the likes of Mark EG, Trance Generators, M-Zone, Organ Donors and DJ SY, as well as a residency at Premonition in Plymouth. Now Co-promoter of Premonition Newquay, 2005 looks set to be even bigger and better…
Next up is Hakka. Hakka has had a presence in southwest underground scene for a number of years, his tough Hard Trance & Hardstyle sound never fails to have a cutting impact on its audience. 2004 saw him share the bill with DJs such as M-Zone, Trance Generators, Scott Brown, Hixxy, Vortex and Dave The Drummer in venues right across the southwest. Now on board as the co-promoter in Newquay Hakka is sure to have a firm impact in 2005.
Completing the main room line-up are El Postino & DJ Trubass. El Postino has been playing the circuit for almost 5 years, resident for Cornish Underground, he has played alongside anyone who’s anyone in the DJ hierarchy , including German legend Uberdruck… Dj Trubass is possibly one of the biggest and brightest prospects of the younger DJ’s in the southwest. His skill and experience has been seen at events such as Transmission and Premonition + his own co-run event Cornish Underground… www.cornishunderground.com
Room 2 at Tall Trees shall hosted by Bliss, dedicated to the sound of pure blissful uplifting trance and classics, with DJ’s Botus Flemming, NokturnAl and Nicky D…
The event runs from 9pm till 2am with Entry only £7 on the door!
Plymouth
At the Candy Store, accompanying Trance Generators and also playing their second set of the night are Plymouth’s own Infiltrators (aka Soundfixation & Pete Kingwell).
Next up are Technotice Records owner and local hero Mark Hashimi fresh from his ripsnorting set at Premonition on New years day, playing an extra special back2back set with ex Country Club dj D S R Y R. Expect nothing less than a truly amazing assault of hard trance aural pleasure.
Also on the bill is Exposure promoter Rogrieguez. Through his own events Rogrieguez has played alongside some of the biggest names in the scene including the likes of M-Zone, Lab 4 and Vortex.
Rounding off the main room line up and making his Premonition debut is DJ Corbzy. Corbzy’s aggressive underground hard trance sound has earned him a string sets at events across the southwest and beyond. Feb 4th marks his first set in Plymouth and it definitely not to be missed…
Room 2 will be dedicated to the future stars of the southwest, with DJ’s DJ Mike & Carl Bailey, Shane Green & H2O, Brad Hicks & Aiden Howard and Agent 24…
The Candy Store’s doors open at 10pm, running through till 4am (last entry 1am), entry only £5 before 11pm & members, £6 after for non-members.
Coaches run to the Candy Store from Exeter, Bridport and Axminster. For more info on times and coach prices email info@clubpremonition.co.uk or call Ian on 07966626490

Sadly the Newquay event was a disaster. A loss of around £1300 for us. Shame, the music and mixing was fine. Ben DJ and Radium are very talented mixers and they always play wicked hardstyle.
I've realised now that running a night is not only about the line up or promotion, it's about building it up over time. If a clubber is used to attending one, or two venues regulary, why should they go elsewhere... You can give them a good excuse with a strong leading guest DJ, but if they have never heard of the event before they do not know if it will be to there liking. You can't enter a new area and throw money and promotion at it. People need to see the event going on for a few months before they consider giving it a try. I never expected 700, 500, or 400, I hoped for at least 200+ but it was far lower than that amount...
This was a harsh lesson, but I've learnt from it... It's a shame as the future monthly events planned can now not proceed...

To be honest, I would not want to do the future events even if I had the money. I would do smaller ones with local talent and build up the name perhaps... I think realistically they would attract perhaps 20 to 40 people more than the last one as each event happened (and that would still mean losses probably if its a big name lineup). I'm now positive you have to build a name up so that people regulary will see that your doing something. After 8 months or so, perhaps more people will say "hey why not give that night a try? they have done 8 events now" and I think that's when people talk about the night IF they like it and more people get interested.

deffo m8, this is what we did a bit of with lockdown, first few events local djs, and a few back rooms here and there.. leeping ahead a bit with hte next one now to try and begin to boost turn out and hoping it goes ok but it may not, if our next event goes fully shit (which i cant see it doing) then were gonna lay low till the summer run a load of free parties and get our name built up to get a decent following!
only way i guess
ps the night i thought was still banging the djs were all ****ing amazing, infiltrators supprised me i loved them, as much as all the others, postino was the only let down the pisshead messing up my mix in the main room HAHAH.. the guys a legned tho respect, keep your thoughts up tho hakka being a promoter is a basterd and needs dedication and alot of hard work.. youl get there ;)

Agree totally with the 'building it up' scenario...it has to be done...
Too many promoter's are doing what I call 'One Night Stands' where they pour a load of money and promotion into a night and then flop and never do another event...
It's all about reputation IMO...

Yes. People need to be regulary seeing an event through flyers and promotion. That way they know what the event is all about... this event was not a 'One Night Stand', it was a monthly event. Problem is we needed to make "some" money back to do the next one. We don't have £1500+ to blow each month if it doesn't work. Through credit we could afford to do another one, but I doubt it would pull much more than last time either, given that Dana is booked to play on same night down the road... I don't want more debt, I'm trying to rid what I have!
I believe in building it up totally, and last friday really made me believe it more so, given that now I'm massively out of pocket.

when I say "know what the event is all about" I mean they need to see that the night has been going on for some time before they think "well that event has been putting on hard trance and hard style for a while now, seen many of there flyers, let's give it a go..." and of course with every event if you do a good job people talk and brings some more to your next events. Or at least that's what I believe...
We want to build a good underground hard trance, hardstyle and techno night and the plans we had to use local talent of cornwall and the south west with also "one" big Dj a month (that Cornwall has not seen before in theory) I hoped would work... but it hasn't on this occasion.

Hakka bey..... dont get too disheartened..... Premonition has been building up in Plymouth for over a year now, and we all know about it up here, it just takes a little time and I guess you learned the hard way you just cant throw a "big name" at an event and expect a big crowd. I wont feel comfortable putting a name DJ on until we have settled Positive Impact into our new venue, and see what type of crowd we get.
see you friday anyhoo..... Ill get you a cheap £1.20 beer so you can drown your sorrows ;)

Thats a real shame Mark, I know how hard all you guys worked for that night!!!
I think Corbzy has made a real good point, im not saying theres anything wrong with The Trance Generators but you really have to look deep and hard at the names that will pull a massive crowd into a club.
Keep your head up dude and stick at it, alot of us ahve been in the same situation..... you;ll come through in the end!!!
