This Thursday will see John Selway get out of bed very early to catch a
transatlantic flight across the big blue sea in time for his second EC
appearance. John first rocked the club back in October 2003, with a wicked
selection of tracks from Thomas P. Heckmann, Abe Duque and Tony Rohr
alongside some of his own killer productions. John is the first in a series
of year-long link ups between Cocoon & Electric City which will see some of
the finest DJs and producers from this world famous club play at Electric
City.
Over the last decade John has gained a reputation of being one the most
versatile techno & electro producers around. Whether it's stripped-down
killer electro, dirty Italo disco or deep driving techno, Selway is
respected from all quarters. Testament to this is a string of releases on
labels as diverse as Plus 8, Industrial Strength, Eye Q, Yoshi Toshi &
Primate.
John has released over 70 EPs under his own name and pseudonyms like Koenig
Cylinders, Disintegrator (with The Horrorist), Semblance Factor, Highrise
and CSM. Despite this he still finds the time to run his own labels; Tension
for techno, Serotonin for electro, Memory Boy for Italo and Rapture with
fellow New Yorker techno producer Abe Duque. His accomplished production
style has seen him remix Sven Vath, Detroit Grand Pubahs, Fischerspooner,
Japanese Telecom and Headroom. These releases are a constant feature in
the sets of Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath.
In recent years, John has achieved great success in his work with Christian
Smith. This highly sought-after collaboration have released EP's and various
remixes on some of techno's biggest labels such as Primate, Intec, Rotation,
Tronic and Soma. Support on the night come cypher-music.net main man and
long time Spurs supporter [we won't hold that against him, for now] Philip
Ryan. Check out Phil's new site which includes many a fine mix from some
of Irelands best techno DJ's. This Real Hotspur will be supplying some deep
techno sounds for the first two hours entertainment.
