What is the best dirty sounding softsynth out there??? I'm still new to the whole VST thing, so I need to know what to get. :eh:

if you mess with the native instruments pro53 enough, you can get some really phat/dirty sounds from it ;)

Hummel/Wavelength Plastic...the most consistently aggressive synth plugin I've ever heard. Basically a distortion specialist synth, but something about the ordering of components means the patches get a characterful distortion without going totally "hardstyle", and the layout makes it a pleasure to program. NiN's programmer has endorsed it (and it's a freebie so he probably meant it). Creamware only though, unfortunately.

EDIT: Ah, didn't notice you said VST only...

It's fallen off of the net because the creator released a successor to it called the UberPlastic (which isn't free, and has a lot more controls, which I'd assume means it's harder to program). If you email me at rounser@hotmail.com I can email it to you guys...note that you'll need a creamware card to run it.
