Does someone has experience with the Tascam FW1884?
http://www.tascam.be/en/fw-1884.html

This one only has 8 analog (unbalanced) inputs.
But i need more. I need at least 16.

But i'm looking for an interface with the following:
- Audio / Midi interface.
- 16 analog inputs to connect the audio from my Midi gear.
- Possibility to switch between more banks for mixing more virtual audio channels through the controller.
- Internal effects with at least 4 to 8 busses for each channelstrip.
- Compressor / limiter for each channelstrip.
- And all connected through Firewire.

To put it all together it must be a combination between the Tascam FW1884 and the Yamaha O1V96.

For instance if i have a couple of audio tracks in ableton, I want to root them individually to each individual channel on the controller, and mix, EQ, compress, FX through the engine of the controller externly.

Is there such a machine now?
Or does the Tascam have the same requirements?

I have an O1x.

it works for me but might not for you. Its has 2 mic pre's only. hi-z guitar input and 5 other 1/4inch jack inputs.

I use mine to process all my tracks running out of ableton. FX, compressors and Eqs are all on board. it acts as a mackie controller with sonar/logic/dp4/cubase and ableton(via mcc live) and soon reason.

I also use it live. Its more expensive than the tascam for sure... if you need more mic pre's its proobably better to get the 01v96 or at least get a decent desk to accompany the o1x.

Well 01v96 is a fine mixer.
I have a 01V. But i don't know if i can extend as an audio / midi interface DAW controller.

The MY8-mLAN I/O card is an interface card that supports the "mLAN" audio/MIDI interface based on IEEE 1394 high-performance serial bus. When the MY8-mLAN is installed in the option I/O slot of the 01V, connecting an external mLAN device with just a single cable will provide eight inputs and eight outputs of mLAN audio, in addition to transmission and reception of mLAN MIDI.
