The fact i havent brought a new tune since summer last year!

when you guys were younger or started djing did you find it hard to be able to fund your vinyl collection? trying to promote a night and buy vinyl without a job is impossible and ive got into big money problems resulting in no vinyl for over 7 months..

Gutted!

I've only bought one vinyl in the last year and a half and received two promos so I've been muchly in the same boat. Might have to take a gander in the shops this weekend though while I'm out and about as long as I'm actually about when the shops are open.

I haven't bought a tune for a good few months, but it's not because I have no money, just that there are no tunes that I like. I have the money to buy loads and loads of tunes but there is nothing that I see as being worth £7.50 - i'd buy lots and lots of tunes that I half like if they were £2.99 in HMV, but with underground tastes that just won't happen.

It's sad because I haven't played out for ages and I rarely have a mix now simply because there is nothing I like. I've tried experimenting with other styles, but none of them are really for me. I have to feel music 100% to play it to a club full of people, and there's nothing that I feel that way about. I buy some hard trance now and again, but it's so sporadic that I can't make a CD because by the time I have enough tunes most of them are really old!

I don't know whether my tastes have just changed and other people still like whats out there in regards to hardstyle/hard trance or whether others just buy mediocre tunes because it's better than nothing...

I really need some fresh new tunes to restart my DJing, and I keep my fingers crossed every day for the time I come home and find loads of good tunes in record shops, but at the moment it just isn't happening.

Mate! Ive been feeling exactly the same for agood few months, didnt buy anything. Most of the hardtrance releases just seem to sound like gatecrasher & tidy trax boring weak sh ite, an there's nothing new going on there. The hardhouse scene has taken over hardtrance and watered it down which I know is nothing new but it seems to have really taken effect of late for me.
And hardstyle has lost all sense of what it originally set out to do. Dark non-commercial hARD music but most of it seems to be fluffy bouncy bollox at the moment, i think the genre of Hard Scousehouse could be applied to alot of it.
There are the exceptions of course but it seems that way for the majority of stuff out there.
An the prices are disgusting, I put 3 tracks in my box on germantrance the other day an it came to 25 quid!!! I know that includes p&p but come on :nono:

On the upside for me though it that Ive really gotten into Industrial Hardcore & Gabber of late, there's shit loads of stuff coming out on that side of things an alot of it is quality. Plus there's so much experimenting going on in releases its alot harder to get bored of it.
I dont know, maybe i'm just abit tired of Hardstyle & trance or maybe its come as far as it can go for now

It's true that there are quite a few tunes from a while back that I thought were mediocre at the time but now think a lot more of - and I have bought a few that I overlooked, but it seems like going back instead of forward too much for me to do it too much.

I know exactly how you 2 feel. I still buy hard trance but it was lacking something for ages. Then i discovered nu style gabba and more industrial sounding techno.
