Seems we have a goodly amount of folks wanting tips and tricks for use with ableton live.

So I guess a thread for safe storage of all these tips is necessary.

I'll start the ball rolling.

clips can be grouped together in a track by simply making sure they are touching each other.

grouping clips means that the user can activate the 'follow on' function. This function is found in the properties for each clip. Each clip can be set to flick to the next clip in the group or the previous one. The other follow functions can be fun too.

The quantization for a clip comes into its own when using the follow on function, for example a clip can be set to loop for 3bars with the following clip looped for only one. There are no limits to the number of clips that can be group together.

Per-clip shuffle is in the bottom most panel where you edit the clip properties. ;)

Grouping is simply having two or more clips touching in a vertical manner.
Example:
Put in 3 clips, scenes 1-3. Now skip a scene. Now put in 2 more clips, scene 5 and 6. You now have 2 groups of clips. Hope that helps.

i thought he meant you could splice clips to loop one after the other without having to sequence it...

Well yeah if you set the follow actions they will play in whatever order you specify without needing to sequence them.
Follow actions only apply to groups though.
Check this out, it should clear it all up ;)

Hmm... I personally don't use the per-clip shuffle... but it may only work if you also set the global shuffle... gotta look into that one.

Thats just a setting for the global shuffle.

I always set it to sixteenth notes then jack the global shuffle and shit gets shuffled properly :) unlike with the 8th setting.

AngstroLooper : Beta V 0.5

http://plugins.timeshard.com/angstrolooper/angstrolooper.gif

A donation-ware looping plugin
designed to fit in with
Ableton Live,
if you like it you could
DONATE SOME MONEY!

AngstroLooper is a
ridiculously long delay. It partly
emulates an old style tape loop system -
but rather than trying to model something
that it isn't, AngstroLooper is designed to be
easy to use tool on a laptop while playing live.

Might we want to put plugin links in the plugin thread seeing as that isn't actually a part of Live? :eh:
