is shranz just throwing all good production ethos to the wind or is there a specific method in the madness. The only way I've acheived similare sounds is to massively overdrive everything.

How much does clipping matter in this genre?

I've made some funky techno I thought was very deep today but compared with some hard techno I've dowloaded form BOA forum I've found it rather shallow. How is that depth of kick acheived and how is the bass acheived? I'm fascinated at such powerful music and I'm wondering if it can be done without assraping my speakers. What's the sketch?

Thanks in advance.

Just some thoughts concerning 'schranz':

- overdrive/dist on some but not all elements (not on your master that is)

- piling large amounts of percussion-loops from sample cds (+effecting them, say dist/overdrive) !!!!!!

- use of filters

- delays to get things to run

- (hefty) compression! for pumping

- distorted 909 ridez

- bitcrushed/overdriven hihats; other lofi-fx on track elements

- tempo (145 bpm makes things run on their own :rambo: )

- use of pre-delay on your kixk so they fall on the offbeats, kinda creating a bassline themselves

- repetitive subbass 'arps', repeating every beat, consisting of four hear-and feelable notes, with the last two being higher to accent the offbeat

- snares (ghost snares, too) can help build a lot of energy when working against each other; dist as well :rambo:

just some ideas from the top of my head
