An Icon
An Inspiration
And the single voice who wrote something to let me know that there are other people in the world that are searching for the answers in the same twisted ways. Has killed himself less than an hour ago.

My hero is gone.

That`s it, one of the last great writers is gone.
Just Beckett and Bukowski left now.
I`ll be drinking one for you Dr Gonzo.
One who understood the sickness, and fought it.

"Prophet!" said I, "thing of evil!-prophet still, if bird or devil!-

"Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy thorn from off my door!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of PAllas just above my chamber door;

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted-nevermore!

I understand now why he quoted that piece of Poe so much in his latter years.

"...well i thought. this is how the world works. all energy flows according to the whims of the great magnet. what a fool i was to defy him. he knew. he knew all along. it was he who sacked me in baker. i had run far enough, so he nailed me... closing off all my escape routes, hassling me first with CHP (highway patrol) and then with this filthy phantom hitchhiker.... pluging me into fear and confusion.

never cross the great magnet... i understood this now."

RIP.

nah bukowski died a while back. probably one the best writers ever. the poet laurete of american low life. If you like him try a bit of John fante and dan fante another two amazing writers in the same vain.

R.I.P mr hunter, although with the way he lived i reckon it was the only way he had to go.

well at least they all seem to be able live to a ripe old age with all that alcohol abuse. Even if they do look a bit ropey.

There's hope for us all yet!!
