What is the best to use with Cubase and FLStudio for basslines? Is sampling from an electric bass guitar a good option?

What is the best program or instrument out there to create your own drums instead of using already sampled drums, I want to create my own kicks and drums, not use already sampled ones.

Cheers.

Hardware and software recommendatios, but preferably software.

for basslines i use junglist, albino, even vanguard occasionally. i know a lot of people use tbl but i haven't used it recently. you can actually get some good deep bass sounds with plasticz

there's a program called Stomper Hyperion which looked pretty good for making your own kicks

I have had junglist for a while now. I have a love hate relationship with it at the moment. As it turns out every time I start a new song I try out all of my soft synths (as my hardware is packed up) for basses. and every time without fail, with a little tweaking, junglist comes out on top. It can get crazy and grungy, smooth and soft, or just plain buzzy and robotic.
I just cant wait to hook up my virus and evolver again to give junglist some stiff competition.

Junglist is really good for bass.
It goes so low, but still holds together and keeps warm.
Absynth is also good, as well as the good old mercury-1

For kicks, there are a plethora of things you can use.
Drumatic 3 is good.
As is microtonic
and also rythms metal

oh, and for a real nice clunky bass, try slayer 2.

my advice is to try and use a nice hardware synth for bass, like a virus c or the like. Most vsti instruments dont have the power and dont go down as low.

Rubbish.
I`ve got bass down low enough to drive the 24" turbo sound drivers we have.
All from software.

What most people seem to forget is that most synths these days are microchip based anyway.
Just a PC in a different box.

2 samples, same riff.

one is hardware
one is software

Does it really mater? Use what you think sounds better for your music

exactly, the point is, people were asking about what software to you can use.
If you treat it properly, you can achieve the same effects as with hardware.

But yes, use whatever works.

which is which then?. 1 sounds abit smother. i wouldnt like to say which i think is hardware

i think the first sample clearly has a stronger attack and slightly more grit than the second, but the body of the bass is very similar.

i agree with the whatever works philosophy, but i'm curious to know which is which. (and which synths were used too)

to me the smothness of the first 1's making me think its a plugin. and second sounds big to me so i think that might be the hardware?. Bet im fecking wrong now
