I have just found the following equipment for sale by someone who used to own a club. Its all hes got left.

1 * Crest CA12
1 * pair EAW LA325
1 * Crest CA9
1 * pair Custom Bass bins
1 * Crest CA4
1* pair LA212 monitors
A graphic equaliser
A compressor/limiter

Can someone please let me know what this is worth as I would like to buy it tomorrow but dont know what its worth.

I think the 3 amps probably about a grand for all 3? but I cant find 2nd hand selling prices for the eaw speakers anywhere.

Any advice appreciated but fast please

cheers

I think the last 2 might be combined in a processor

Well i bought the kit for 2.5k, I hope its a good deal.

Anyone know any forums that specialise in this sort thing and can give advice on putting it all together and setting up?

cheers

I would say you got an ok deal, not the most compact rig but powerful and ok quality.
Gonna be very heavy is your not using it for another install thou.
Need to make sure you set up correct to get most from amps etc.
EAW can be run with a passive or bi-ampified mf-hf crossover.
Need to set limiter correctly to stop speakers getting blown.
Some good sites
http://www.speakerplans.com/
http://www.yorkville.com/default.asp?p1=23&p2=17&p_id=26

That should keep you busy fro a bit.

thx for info m8

These came out of a club but were using them for our monthly night. Bit of a pain sizewise but should be ok.

FYI the subs have each got 1 21" Eminence driver (he told me they cost £650 ea new) but in any case we heard them and they did the business. I also got all the cabling for everything and a rack.

He ran the 325's with one amp but it was my intention to bi-amp them and that what I need the help with. ie what kit I need.

He gave me 2 sound processors that he didnt use - I cant tell u what they are because I dont pick up till saturday but one was a digital beringer that he didnt think was gr8 and a Scanweb? which apparantly was good but needed a laptop to set up and sounded complicated.

If needed Ill just buy the right processor to bi-amp and get the 2nd amp at a later time.

thx again and ill check out those sites, cheers

21" driver is not ideal but will work fine, what music do you play, more suited to deeper less punchy music.

To bi amplifer them you need an active crossover. This will split the audio signal in the required frequecies.
Need to make sure you match the Amplifiers ohm rating power to the relevent driver rating. Im sure if you go on the EAW site that will have what you need to know about required amp power etc.

Scanweb, not heard of but if is laptop driven its probally a LMS controller. Can bring up Eq and crossover slopes etc of laptop. If you get someone to set up correctly can probally save setting and then use in other places.
Probally has a limiter 2.

Have fun.

Is it soundweb. BSS
If so its a bit excessive for your applicattion, but good quality or so ive heard.

yes that was it, a soundweb.

How does an active crossover differ to passive?

Also wouldnt a sound processor sort the crossovers, eqs and limiter all in one unit?

-------------

I just found out we got 3 things (were not originally used with these spks though)

1) Soundweb 9088 Networked signal processor
2) Beringer Ultra-Curve Pro DSP8024 Digital 24bit dual DSP mainframe
3) Apex Argos Sound level limiter

Any idea if any of these would be suitable or if not are they worth anything?

cheers

An active x-over is more efficient and requires power, hence being active.
passive is not powered and less efficeint. Passive can only take so much power, active don't think it matters.

a LMS is a loudpeaker management system like DBX driverack or soundweb.
Controls crossover, EQ, delay, dynamics and possibly more.
That soundweb is designed to run whole building audio so can alter amps eq etc from one place.
A noraml LMS just would run one sound system of a mulitple of speakers.

The soundweb will work but is excessive fro your requirements, i think anyway.

Ultracurve is a digital EQ.
Apex is limiter.

If you want you can ring me and go over it, would be easier.

U will need laptop for soundweb.

oh passive would be built into the cab.
Active a seperate unit.

I will call you after Ive read those guides and picked the kit up, cheers

Doesnt the crossover go before the amp? and if so why would it need to handle more power?

Yer active x-over before amp. Passive x-overs usually built inside speaker like on home stereo. Most passive crossovers have a max limit say 500w but will change with circuitry.

Oh I see what you were saying. I was assuming there are passive crossovers for the rack too.

and also explains why they run 600W rms full range but 1600W Bi amped.

I heard them at about 500 and they were **** loud!

You got it. Im sure they will be nice cabs. EAW are a quality loudspeaker company with strong reputation.

I was wrong, The 2 bass bins use 1 of these in each box

http://editweb.iglou.com/eminence/eminence/pages/products02/speakpro/kilo18.htm

18" and 1250w ea !! no wonder they sounded f**** loud !

With the monitors that puts this set up at 1600+1250+500 * 2 = 6.5k rms
of speaker power!

Ill probably get another CA12 to bi amp the eaw on LFs, use the CA9 for the HFs and other CA12 for the subs.

Just need to sort the processor now... this is gr8 fun its wicked having your own rig :wicked:

Wonder how the neighbours will feel about me testing it
