This Thursday June 2nd sees The Innovator, Derrick May [Transmat] flys into
Electric City for a long awaited return visit to Dublin. If one name crops
up again and again in discussions of techno, it is that of Derrick "Mayday"
May. Alongside Atkins, Juan, Craig, Carl and Saunderson, Kevin, May is
regarded as one of the kings of the Detroit sound. Derrick is one of the
world's leading DJs and it's been a long time since he played Dublin so we
gave him a call and asked him did he fancy it? He did - so here he is. We
are very pleased to have the other half of the Cosmic Twins (along with
Francois K - who made his only Dublin appearance ever for us last year] join
us for this very special night of music. Echoes of Ken Collier, Ron Hardy,
Larry Levan and the Electrifyin' Mojo reverberate through sound systems from
Chicago to Brussels to Johannesburg when he takes to the decks. Suffice to
say, this will be an amazing evening of deep techno and house sounds.
Support on the night comes from EC resident Simon Conway who once almost
played baseball with Derrick ten years ago. Tickets for this party are 15
euro and available from Selectah Records and www.tickets.ie [subject to
booking fee]. This is first night in Traffic as part of Budrising Festival.
