If you want to judge the Scottish techno scene then there is only one way to do it without being here, and thats with live sets from the clubs, from the Edinburgh clubs...

Live sets from Dogma (http://www.clubdogma.com/Sets_to_download/)
Live sets from JakN (http://www.diversefrequencies.co.uk/mp3/)
Live sets from UTI (http://www.clubuti.com/sounds.htm)

Also 22nd of July Dogma is running a residents night with Rob Dylan and Neil Templar.

I believe that UTI are currently taking a well earned break but are sure to return before too long i'd think...They also have 2 labels, UTI and INJUN EARS.

the did have a break of maybe 6 month but have now moved to the venue from the studio 24.....good move in my book cos the sound is soo much better ther. uti have the best decor going, always different and always shmert as fuk.

studio24 gets noise complaints from local (newly built) flats and its a real shame cos i luved that place soo much but now it just lacks the oooph ya need.

yeh the veune(that is its name) has 3 floors, we just take the top cos as you say its just real intimate in ther and does create a good vibe even with 100 folks.....hold 300 but eve been hitting 180-250 for most of them, with 250 its just right, enuf room to move but looks packed.

if you do wanna come up, give us a shout and well give you guesty just cos your making the effort to travel so far.

Aye, the Edinburgh techno scene is pretty good at the moment. Something on every weekend, and at this time of year u've got the free parties as well.

JakN, React & UTI r the best clubs IMO (no that I'm biased, ken) ;)

If you r thinkin of comin up, you should try to come to JakN in August. Club's open til 5 & the guest we have playin is quality (although i dont think im allowed to say who it is yet).

i have a slight 'thing' for the scottish accent

As for techno nights, i went to see BMB in Glasgow a while back, but got id'd and they wouldnt let me in.

Ended up going to see Deetron at the Subclub which didnt particularly excite me alot to be honest.

Dogma looks quality.. as do the other nights.

I'm gonna head over for a weekend at the end of the summer I reckon. Had a blast last time I was there.. no techno but lots of battered mars bars and iron-bru

would be if the sound was pumped, the studios cant play the music loud which pisses me right off cos ive enjoyed many a night in ther....its where i really discovered techno.

and now i dont like it.....i still go on occasion but more just for the night out....i need to be able to hear the music louder than the folk talking next to me.

The sound is fine @ Dogma now cheers Sekonz .... massively improved over the last couple of months due to the soundproofing.

sorry man.....

aint been since paddys set a coupla months back.

good news cos it was a shame.

Geoff
16-06-2005, 05:13 PM
No probs mate :).

Volume during Paddys set was a bit better than it has been, and the Crystal Distortion was back up to a decent level, with way more bass than there has been. They're still doing quite a lot or proofing, plus some other stuff :) so it will only get better ..
