Dez Williams [Ai Records / SCSI-AV - UK]
Alan O'Boyle [Decal]

Admission - e8 / e6 members

This Thursday sees the first appearance at Electric City from UK producer
Dez Williams. Dez is one of our favourite UK producers with a series of
killer releases on the likes of SCSI, Ai Records and Native. His Elektronik
Religion album on SCSI was many people's electro release of last year. Not
only is he a top producer but Dez rocks the decks hard so this will be a top
night of electro & techno. Producer/DJ Dez, based in Holyhead, North Wales,
who has been creating electronic dance music since his early teens when his
parents bought him a Commodore Amiga 500 computer. Dez soon began
experimenting with sampling and 'soundtracker' programs, and a couple of
years later purchased his first pair of turntables (on which he spent many
hours practicing in order to achieve his 'textbook' mixing skills!)

Over the next few years Dez's passion for music grew stronger and he soon
found himself spending every spare bit of cash he had on records and various
pieces of kit for his studio. It wasn't until 1999 that Dez had his first
release - a lush, emotional, techno/breakbeat track entitled "Puppet World"
on Ben Sims' 'Native' label. Subsequent releases include an EP for the world
renowned Leeds based electro label 'SCSI' entitled "Sock Fluff EP", an EP
for Essex based label 'Reason', a monstrous techno track entitled "Personal
Nightmare" on Liverpool's 'Voodoo Records', the "From Me 2 U EP" on
'Acruacree' (which was charted at No.1 in 'Sonic Groove (NYC)' and appeared
in Dave Clarke's monthly top ten, as well as being hammered by some of the
world's top electro/techno DJ's), and a 13 track album entitled "Electronik
Religion" also on the 'SCSI' label which has caused some serious waves in
the electro scene (a 'Sureplayer' in August 2003 issue of 'DJ magazine'),
and was also been played by Andrew Weatherall, Ellen Allien and on BBC Radio
One by John Peel. In 2004, a 7 track EP for Blase Records entitled Speaking
in Tongues and a 4 track EP for the highly rated Ai label called Hex Abuse
which showed the deeper Detroit techno style of Dez's music production.

Dez's influences range from early 80's electro Jean-Michel Jarre, LFO,
Depeche Mode, Aphex Twin, Juan Atkins, Luke Slater, Underground Resistance
and Jeff Mills. Dez is a great believer in keeping things fresh, new and
exciting which is why his dj sets usually consist entirely of his own
unreleased material. With his unique and uncompromising style, Dez aims to
push the boundaries of electronic music, giving a long and lasting
contribution to the 'Electronic Underground'. Support comes from the daddy
of Irish Electro Alan O'Boyle [Decal].
