ermm... i don't want it to explode!!!!! perhaps the really commecial edge of it might.

but if it will, you can bet i'll be moving onto summit else. it won't intererst me if every old mutha is playing it. i'm sure that goes for most of us here????

tell me your reasons for playing hardstyle. is it so you can say 'I played it before you'??? surely not. if so you totally are not getting the reasons for underground music.

you should be playing it cause you love it, not cause you want to be a the beginning of some crappy fad.

my 2 cents anyway 8)

hmmm.... :?

I still think I would play Hardstyle, even if it was popular.

Don't want to start the old hardstyle going commercial chestnut again, just thinking that we shouldn't ditch something we love just because other people like it too.

you need to move on when things become very commercial. there's plenty of reasons why i think this and they're all totally based on my experiences. commercialism breeds boring musical formulas. therefore if hardstyle became super commercial, i would move on. no if's no buts. but i believe it will not.

god if i think about how much i used to love scot project. then everyone started to play his stuff. then he got a formula. then he got boring! same old same old. it was all way too predictable.

i love music. i love hardstyle. i love techno. i love hard trance - for what it is now. for the buzz you get for it being fresh and new. but as soon as any part of it starts to become formulated, i'm outta here...

Mark why did u move onto hardstyle for then ? u used to play trance, like the stuff at helter skelter and now u dont play stuff like that anymore and i f**kin loved that kinda stuff, like junk project and parker and clind....and all that kinda trance etc...

I say bring it back, id never heard any kind of trance like that untill i got a helter skelter tape pack back in 98 - 99 i think, it was mental !!!

hey darky...

where have you heard me play recently? i haven't totally moved to hardstyle... i don't understand why you'd say this... but i do play alot of it :D everyone needs to move on though.. it's important... experiement.. change...

:D

you know... when i used to play pure h trance sets i used to wish that they'd have more drums in them. hardstyle does. that's why i like it so much. but to be honest, it's all cool but it's defo a means to an end. music must go forward and i want to be at the end of that - always.

if you hear me playing recently, i'm trying hard to keep the melody in there. but still use the energy of h/style - especailly at the end of my sets...

unfortunately it's very, very hard now for me to find melodic stuff that isn't getting canned on a commercial level. and call me a stick in the mud but i simply can't play stuff like this...

anyway.. all i can say is i'm trying man and there's a new style out there that WILL happen. I will be there to find it, if it kills me

Your getting right into this aint you Mark..
I think you are wrong pearcy if you think you should be playing hardstyle because you want to say you were the one playing it first.
And i think i will always love hardstyle because i can already see the divide happening like every genre. There will be underground and more mainstream.

What a juicy topic!

Poor fella only came on here to big up hardstyle and got told off.

Pearcy that's not the sort of thing we want to hear though "wait till it explodes like hard house did". That's defeating the object of underground music as a whole, to stay "underground".

short and sweet :D

play it and then put it down! if mark eg, or anyone else for that mater was still playing say, parker and clind genorator in there set. how bored would everyone be of that tune :?: play it and move on

this is one of the best pieces of advice i was ever given, by the one and only m-zone!!

Mark - that was a very good reply, and I can't really argue with that. The only defense I could put up is that Hardstyle is already made for the mass market in the countries it originates, so the producers hopefully wouldn't change it just for us Brits. To my knowledge, Scot Project really wasn't that famous even in Europe until he came over here, so that's probably why he displayed such a change.

Of course we all know that in reality, Tidy probably have a cd ready to go, mixed by some idiot, called 'Best Hardstyle' or something even less innovative full of hard house in disguise.

mark e.g mark e.g

My reasons for playing hardstyle is because I f**king love it! Did I say I wanted it to get commercial! Know way,i'm saying it might. If I wanted to be a commercial dj I'd be playing rubbish house music,
I'm so underground you've never heard of me!! hahaha.
You think I want to start a fad! i'm the dirtiest most passionate underground dj you will ever meet and always will be.

fair play

i suppose that first comment came across a bit like you wanted it to become well known so you could stick youre hand up and say 'i started it'. sounded all a bit strange to me, that's all :D

respect and welcome to the board

In my oppinion the folks at Tidy and Nukleuz are going to milk it for all it's worth n I reckon there's going to be a bit of a battle to start with. All the underground artists and nights will be fighting to prove that they're style is the tru Hardstyle, and the commercial c*nts will use all their money and sheep herding skills to try and make the masses think their sound is the right one... pah

That is until the underground creates the next sound, the sound 2 steps into the future. This doesn't mean 2 sound cheesey but all the underground nights/artists need to work together. If you are true to your cause you soon find out who are in it for the wrong reasons. We need to Bulletproof the underground so NO commercial f*ckers can come and milk it at all.

Religion are there for everyone, for the old true ravers and converting the big club sheep, the ones that love the music, not listen to it cos their mate dave thinks it's cool... Get every f*cker back under one roof once again. And bring back the unity that it all once had!

Futuristic music is not for backward thinking people.

Where do I put my 2p? :p
