BUT

at the start when i dont have too much happening, it just wont play properly! it stutters and chops until i drag the timebar into the middle.

any ideas?

its a bit strange,....... bear in mind ive a computer thats gettin worse by the day.

thanks people!

I'm sure you probably thought of this already. But, did you try increasing the size of your latency/audio buffers?

where exactly in sx2 can u do that coz i tried before and i couldnt find it in the preferences page...

i have a new soundcard on the way out, so might i have to wait for that?

This could be the common problem with cubase and the P4 CPU.

This link should tell you everything you need to know, if de-normal mode is indeed the problem.

Good Luck ;)

Edit: The above link is playing up but so the second link below is a link to the google search engine (if that doesn't work there is info on the denormal mode everywhere including here (http://www.tobybear.de/p_utilbag.html)

I find some plugins suddenly jump the processor usage when they have a low (or non-existant) input signal.

I did wonder if this was the denormalisation problem, but I don't have a Pentium... (old Athlon 800).
