i find films such as Scanners & Saturn 3 & Alien hugely inspiring when trying to create my music.

i also find industrial estates & derelict structures hugely awe inspiring.

even the sound of a diesel engine on a bus ticking over strangely fascinating.

does anyone else suffer from such an odd affliction :eh: of feeling something new start to come together through less obvious influences ?

Going for walks.

Sometimes when I'm walking playing music in my head I get huge surges of energy, almost narcotic rushes.

Walking by the sea, wide urban roads & big open spaces with lots of sky. Get a weird powerful feeling and drums start crashing in my head.

Always percussion though. Never get melodies or harmonic ideas.

All about rhythmn.

Yeah, know exactly what you guys mean there. Walk a mile or so to work in a morning and as I walk usually ahve a tune in my head, and every so often I'll just get a really heady rushing feeling and suddenly notice that lockjaw has briefly set in. Only lasts a few seconds like, but definately feel it.

Walking.
The pace gets riffs and beats workin in my head.
Unfortunately I`m never near the studio.
Maybe I need a treadmill in there.

Literature.

Films.
Big machines (trains, buses, industrial machinery)

My trusty ute just blew its head gasket last week :(

So this weekend I rebuilt the head and replaced the gasket.....

Nothin like pulling an engine apart cleaning it up making a few tweaks and puttin it back together and watchin those valve tappets singing in unison.

Its all harmonic motion....a finely tuned machine :)

Today there was a wicked onshore wind (I live by the ocean) and the sea was wild as a mad-womans hairstyle.

You can just sit there and feel the power of the thing - its like staring into a fire.

wicked waves all colliding with each other and pounding against rocks.

mmmm.....waves :)

and my insane need to never get a proper job :)agreed.. I get inspiration from all sorts of things in life.. the city skyline, crowded sidewalks downtown, my pets, good times with friends, bad times with friends.. "disagreements" with my lady have urged me to let out some some fierce rhythms.. the feeling of rolling up to a show, hearing the distant thump, the air almost thick with a good vibe.. knowing life is just as horrible as it is beautiful..

My mothers penchant for the occult.
My child's penchant to aggrivate at any given moment.
My girl's talent to quote me the price(hint) on the brand new Louis Vuitton purse.
