yep-i've been going for years, it's pretty good, nah, it's dammn ****in' brill. Bit of advice though, if you get the train to ghent the cops always have sniffer dogs at the station and they catch LOADS of people also when the big names are on they close off the arenas, that being said, the best DJ's are the local dutch/belgian guys, always surprises me why these guys and gals dont get gigs over this side of the pond, they are really class
but it's well worth the trip-well organised, and the chill out area full of wierd inflatabe furniture is worth the journey alone-my best memory of it..was with a pal who was so munted he turns around in the middle of plastikman asking me what time hawtin was on at...it's that type of gig

Don't know if i'll be able to make it this year but anyone whos going - -

prepare for a serious marathon of a rave!

was there in 03, absolutely one of the most enjoyable nights of my life - seriously!!! very very messy tho..
(that was my fault though, the organisers actually did an impressive job - never queued for more than 5 mins)

I went last year, seemed like they let far to many people in to me, rooms getting closed all the time. Not what you want when you have travelled all that way. Should be goin this year.

I went to the 5th & 6th year of ILT....was a lot of fun, but I've heard the last few years werent as good......

If you REALLY want to check out a good party in Ghent, you should go to 10 Days Off.....much better, imo

I'm psyched that Tony Rohr will be over representing some US techno too.

Never been there myself, but I did see the DVD from the other year that had a few good parts.

What's up with Sven Vath running around and "hi - fiving" people while he was playing LFO "Freak"?

Dustin Zahn
12-09-2005, 05:59 PM
Hahaha. My roommate isn't into techno and watched a copy of the DVD I had. I came home and he told me he watched it. He was talking about some crazy guy jumping around "being a fairy, but the song was kinda cool."

I actually never watched the DVD prior to that so I popped it in and sure enough, it was Sven Vath at the moment you just described.

I don't know if I could handle being in a hot, sweaty crowd as big as the ones at ILT, but I think it's ****in sweet that Tony is onboard this year. His productions are getting really good.

There is a big point for not going to I Love Techno and it's the fact that it's prganised by Clearchannel, big american multinational

Its not organized by clear channel, clear channel sponsor it. As do coca cola, etc. Hence why the place is full of advertising everywhere inside. Never the less im glad someone else spotted that

My thoughts on ILT are...

Basically its amazing, compared to anything we have in England its massive, big light, stages and 25,000+ all into techno....

However I wouldn't recommend it. Been about 3-4 times and it deteriorated each time. Last year was a shambles. Spent ages waiting to get into arenas and some the sound systems in some of the better rooms sucked. That combined with the lack of space to dance, in fact not even stand for 10 seconds without been pushed aside by people who have no other option but to push through people (its that bad). I couldn't really get into it last year simply because ever time i got chance to start moving some punk need to get by push past me even at the back of the arean's. Oh yea and there was a massive crush and prodigy didnt play for the 1st 20 mins whilst the bouncers tried to stop 100's of people trying to push themselves past a barrier and into an already packed arena

So in a nutshell, if you live in that area, go for it. If you in England and your travelling go to something else. Honestly

euhm, as far as i know, CC owns I love techno. and believe me, not everyone in belgium is happy with that and surely not everyone will see it as a positive evolution. Neither do I.

I'm definately not going. I stopped going years ago and I don't think I'll ever go back again.

B"elgium has far more better parties ;)

Clear Channel own a lot of inner city advertising billboards in the UK. They also have stakes in meanfiddler, some of the Leeds festivals, Glastonbury, V and loads of venues in London. All of which are doing pretty successful. I still think its a little wrong tho, seems like its more of commercial event organizer. Guess thats why the line up isn't as good as it used to be. Just going for the big risk free names

I'll be there again this year. I had no hassles last year at all. I suppose the q's depend on who you want to go and see. I knew Prodigy would be rammed out, so I didn't even bother trying.

Saw Ruskin, Pet Duo, Rush, Varela, and loads more.

This year I'm going with no plans of who to see, as I find that the best way. But I was looking at the set times, and either the yellow room finishes early, or Leibing and Speedy J are doing the Collabs thing for 4 hours!!

Beyer finishing off the blue M_Nus room, so I'm expecting similar to his Fuse set and the Fabric CD he did. Might end up in there.
