Once again, DJ Becka and techno label Gotham Grooves of NYC are back to bring you ‘Gotham City Radio’ on Livesets.com.
Airing every Saturday, from 12:00pm – 3:00pm EST(eastern standard time) 18:00 – 21:00 CET(central european time). Alongside Becka's weekly tune selections, we will be featuring international and local guest dj's and performances for your enjoyment. This week we have a very special treat for you, the listener….2 special guests coming straight from the UK for their return appearance on our show…..Darren Roach from Intergroove UK and JB of the Dance Wicked Organization.
Raving at the age of 13, at some the first acid house parties & illegal raves in the U.K around 87/88 Darren Roach witnessed the Amazing energy of music, the diversity of People and a feeling that inspired Darren to pursue a career as a DJ.
At 15 he started his career in London, playing all of the major clubs at the time including the Ministry of sound, Club UK, the Gardening club, Shaftsbury’s, limelight’s the fridge etc.
Since then, Darren has enjoyed gigging at numerous clubs and festivals in countries such as America, Australia, China, Russia, turkey, Croatia, Czech Republic, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, and Sweden playing in events like Dance valley Amsterdam, Global Tendencies festival San Sebastian, and countless others.
In 2002 Darren took on the role as Head of Press and Promotion at Intergroove UK. Plugging and pushing the Underground sound to a bigger audience. It was at this time Studiotek Records was born, with six previous releases on white labels and now five current releases on the Studiotek imprint. Darren is finally taking on the role as a fine producer as well as a DJ. This work will truly reflect the different aspects and styles of Darren's music. Which can only be described as meaningful and musical, with GROOVE?
Darren has always looked for sounds that can only be described as different!!! But, this is where the special talents of Darren really come into play, by bringing in subliminal mixes of different styles and elements based around tech house, keeping crowds on their feet, and good feelings inside. Originality & Quality music is the key to Da Roach’s success.
DJing for over 15 years, JB is co-founder and resident DJ of the Dance Wicked organisation which is home to three record labels: Dance Wicked Records (Soulful House) Modern Electronic Soul or MES Records (Techouse and Deep house) and Advanced Dance (Techouse to Techno). All three labels continue to go from strength to strength with an active release schedule. Dance Wicked and MES are now being distributed by Digital Distribution while Advance Dance is currently on an import only basis. There is also a production company in the making, set up with old buddy Colin Dale, as a means to get more music out through other labels. This has led to JB playing with the world’s top DJs including Danny Rampling, Derrick May, Pure Science and many others at some of the best venues in the world including ‘Fabric’ ‘The Cross’ and ‘The End’ (London), ‘Centrofly’ (NYC), ‘Level Nightclub’ (Miami), ‘Wagg Club’ (Paris), ‘Underground’ (Ibiza), ‘Garden’ and ‘Pacha’ (Budapest) and ‘Discothèque’ (Barcelona). JB also holds down a number of monthly residencies in London for Honeytrap and Heroine and is resident at Afterhours which are London bank holiday specials at venues such as Plastic People and Cherry Jam. In addition to this JB is currently supporting DJ to the Radio 1 outside broadcast tour. This has included playing at major gigs such as ‘Glastonbury 2000/1/2/3’, ‘Gatecrasher Summer Sound System’, ‘Homelands’ and ‘Love Parade 2000’ to name a few. There have also been trips to Amsterdam, Moscow and San Francisco in the past couple of years and a new tri-monthly residency at ‘GBH @ Centrofly NYC’ after a successful visit taking Dance Wicked to New York. This year has also included trips to Ibiza, France and Hungary where JB played to the million strong crowd at the Budapest love parade.
