First up on this week's rotating musical roundabout is EC FM's Dan Power.
Dan is the mainstay of our weekly internet show which goes out every on
Sunday night on www.powerfm.org between the hours of nine and eleven. With a
love of all things Detroit you can expect him to take you on journey through
some of the motor city's finest producers. The brothers Theo, Jeff, Kenny,
Omar and Carl are all sure to feature in his down down deeper than down set.
Following the Power, we've got a debut set from lead Nord, Cathal Tierney
from Shine in Belfast. Cathal began DJing techno in 1995 in a European and
Detroit style heavily influenced by seminal clubs such as Sugarsweet, Shake
Ya brain and Different Drum.
In 1998 he began running 'Amplified' in the Art's College and published
Amplifier and Amp clubzines. Was Djing with likes of Paul Mac, Ian O'Brien,
Pure Science, The Advent Live, and promoting artists such as Ed Rush,
Calibre, Pressure Drop in an attempt to have a broad musical spectrum in the
club. Around this time he was also playing in the now "legendary"
underground clubs Vicos and Bedlam and played at Bedlam Vs Hydroponic
nights.
1999 Lived in Barcelona for a few years playing free parties and illegal
raves and enjoying the wondrous occasion of Manchester United's date with
destiny at the Nou Camp. Mister Tierney has been playing the bar in Shine
fairly regularly since last December, playing quality house and played warm
up for Billy 'Condo' Nasty in the main room in Shine two weeks ago, enjoying
giving the techno a good rattle.
A busy man, he has just secured a Friday residency in a bar in Belfast
playing everything from the Stooges to Drum & Bass. Here's a bo selection of
what he will be playing this Thursday:
