just out of cuirosity was/is Derrick May gay?
a friend of mine said that techno was created by gay black men, he meant this in a positive way being gay, himself. so im just checking if he's telling the truth or in some fantasy world.

no he's very straight. i know many of the early chicago pioneers were gay though. the warehouse was a gay club, as was the paradise garage in new jersey, which sort of predates frankie knuckles' move to chicago. but detroit's scene was much more straight. derrick may and kevin saunderson were football (american) players before they started hanging out with juan atkins...
