Back to rock the club on Thursday we have legendary [He's only 29 - EC Ed] German techno DJ, Producer and all round nice guy Frank Lorber. Frankie boy ripped it up at our old venue the Metropolitan back in February with a splendid set that included some stunning songs from the likes of Johannes Heil, Oliver Hacke and Alter Ego. After ten years in the music business hanging out with Sven Vath, DJ Dag and Tanith, playing clubs and festivals that we can all only dream of attending never mind playing at. Frank decided to start his own label 'Nummer Schallplatten' in 2003. He didn't have to look too long among his friends for some collaborations. Soon various projects came from Project 69 [Johannes Heil], Electronic Home Entertainment [W. Jorg Henze] & Explizit [Pascal FEOS].
The idea of starting up Nummer came during the recording of his debut LP, Jailhouse Rocker for Uncle Sven's Cocoon Recordings together with friend and studio partner Stefan Straka [Sikora]. This album was recorded in their studio which is located in Offenbach, Frankfurt in the ex Logic / Eye Q / Harthouse building, where the points have been set for today's time. Today, the building hosts the studios of Frank, Anthony Rother and 2 Dollar Egg and is one of the most famous buildings in German techno history.
Over the last two years with the help of Kompakt distribution, Nummer has established itself as one of the leading German techno labels which is no mean feat considering the amount of labels currently coming from ze motherland. Recent releases from 2 Dollar Egg, Mathew Dear, Someone Else and Denis Rusack have all been big hits with the uber superstar DJ's.
Keeping with tradition support this time comes from Frank Lorber's Irish Stalker of the year 2005 [previous winner Giles Armstrong] Stephen Wynne Jones of Novadance fame. Stephen last played EC before Agoria two years ago and is long overdue a return visit so this will be the prefect opportunity for him [and you] to get up close and personal with Mr. Lorber.
