Well once again the boyz from G.Trance.com have got more represses!!

And this time am Pissed off!!

I know there intentions are good, but i just feel that classics like the ones they are getting repressed (mostly Edm Fog) are flooding the scene..

If it carries on like this gone will the days when your one of your mates comes round and you pull out a classic Edm and throw it on, only for him/her to say, "ave got that, on a repress this week"...Bastard!!

These records once known as classics, now become everyones classic, thus taking the word classic phrase away from the record...

Another example is: You play a set at yer mates house (again) and you think you'll play a classics set rammed full of edm tracks....(the classics)
your on after yer mate, and he drops in all the same choons. "arrgghhh"

Does everyone see where am coming from here, or is it just me?
I think the its got out of control, i mean its great that there have done and are doing it, but when and where does it stop?

Your thoughts for my addled mind please!!!

I kinda agree too.
Its all part of djing having records other djs havent got and them having ones youve not got so when they start repressing them and everyone can get records that you had from first time round and it kinda spoils the specialness of it.

Yep I agree, it's gay as **** when you search for ages to get a chune and then to see it repressed for all.....

If you want a tune bad enough, look for it... :x

Good point here. I kinda Agree but also disagree (Does that make sense?!).

If the labels themselfs done another run of their big tracks then people wouldn't bootleg them.

However, I also think it's wrong to bootleg older tracks as at the end of the day it's the artist(s) that suffer as they don't make any money on the bootlegs at all it all goes to some greedy ****er that was only out to make a fast buck!.

Good subject!

to be honest, im glad they are doing re-presses SHOUT TO THE REPRESS CREW...

cos for one, you not have to spend stupid amounts trying to blag someone to sell it to you at a stupid price.

plus al those people who missed out the first time, get a second chance.

its good IMO

I think its a bad idea because when you think youve got a mint choon thats pretty rare and then see it in all the record shops, its a bit 'DEPRESSING'.
But if you do search for a track and no joy then you see it pop up, then youre lovin it.
Again 'but', i think there shouldnt be repress's because its good when djs build up there own different collections, instead of everyones box full of the same choons.. Even if it does mean missing out on a gooden..

i think the personal satisfaction from having the original copy is all you need. sure, ppl can buy the repress but you know you were there first and that gives me a huge buzz :)

I can see how it can be annoying seeing as how you recently swapped one of those represses with me for another tune.

It definately a bad idea. 2 years ago justin and russell were offering me stupid money for my old edms and i wasnt prepared to take it, cos like everyone says, they are classics.

I am gutted they are being repressed. Ppl should hunt these old vinyls down. Not everyone wants stupid money for em.

They are called classics for a reason, but if every person you speak to says theyve gotta a repress, they kinda lose that tradition

hmmm.. ok... i see the point and i agree... value wise this is bad. very bad. sure, it immediately devalues records that we think are worth a fortune. i remember the first time i heard the chicago trax label were doing represses of the early 85 chicago stuff. i was gutted!!!!!

but i had to face up to it and since then, in a strange way, it's made my original trax collection even more special to me. i'd never part with them anyway, so the value means nothing.

what matters is the fact i KNOW i've got the original and that's make me even more bloody proud!

i think represses can come in handy if u allready own the original and its become slightly worn or perhaps you dont want to wear it any more so you can get a nice new pressing and keep your original to one side.

but i also agree with the fact a classic should remain a classic so....shit....im not exactally suer what i think now :?

its a shame theres not like a system to allow people who own the original to recieve a repress only, thatd work better.

think of it like a book - the first edition is the rarest , most prized and worth the most .... :D

its a tricky one... we`ve got all these edms in the shop at the mo...personally for me its a good thing as i missed alot of them first time round... i can see how it would piss people off if they had been keeping them sneaky... but after all music is for everyone... as a dj in a competitive world we have to make sure our music isn`t just the same old shit that everyone else is playing ( although its increasingly hard with the net making tunes available to everyone) but the artists who right the tunes in the first place do it for all not a few select people, so surely its not that bad.... :) hope that made some sense
