ive heard a few of you guys mentioning partitioning your hardrive so that u can boot up and only have ur production stuff running, so your processor etc isnt being used up other programs u might have going.

how would i go about this and any tips for when ive partitioned off my drive?

i have an 80GB hardrive

alright techfunk. The best thing to do would be to start from scratch a wipe the machine before you go about partitioning it. Ok you can do if without destroying everything by using a program called partition magic
but its always better to start afresh.

have a read of this http://www.bootdisk.com/txtfiles/hdd.txt

Id say you would only need 3 partitions at most. One for system files and the OS. One for apps & another one for your wavs + music + sounds + files etc.
Remember not to make your system partition too small because your paging file sits there and it always good practice to leave an extra Gb for this.

Anyway let us know how you get on and giz a buzz if you have any problems.
