HAZYDAYZ Vs VOODOO
This date will be the first of Hazydayz' monthly events at Carling Academy and the last Saturday date for Voodoo before it takes up residence on the last Friday of the month from February 24th - details to follow soon!

Hazydayz has been a jewel in Liverpools clubbing crown with it's excellent parties at Zanzibar but now celebrates it's first Academy ho-down with Voodoo (Hazydayz' Pluto being a former Voodoo resident!) On the bill are Acid House monsters 808 State, Liverpools rave DJ extrordinaire Vertigo plus Hazydayz DJs Pluto & Dreamgirl. In the Voodoo room a long long awaited debut from Carl Craig and the Hackers live debut plus residents Shiels & Long and new regular player Nocturne aka Scott McGill from T-Funkshun.

Carl Craig: A key player in Detroit techno's second wave, following the futuristic lead of originators Derrick May and Juan Atkins, and eventually collaborating with May. He began recording at the turn of the '90s, using a number of aliases to release innovative ambient, techno, breakbeat and future jazz sounds. One such alias, Innerzone Orchestra, issued "Bug in a Bassbin" in 1992, the track largely responsible for moving drum 'n' bass away from the sounds of hardcore and ragga. Craig heads Planet E Communications. With releases under BFC, Psyche, Paper Clip People, 69, Designer Music and Innerzone Orchestra, Carl Craig has more personalities than a room full of schizos! A deep commitment to soul and jazz has always been the watermark of his music. Even when Craig is destroying dance floors with such songs as the classic 'Throw,' there is always a subtleness and attention to detail that separates his music from that of the rest.

808 State: Acid house pioneers 808 State formed in Manchester in 1988 when Martin Price, the owner of the city's legendary record store Eastern Bloc and the founder of the independent label Creed, first joined forces with local musician and producer Graham Massey. After teaming with collaborator Gerald Simpson, 808 State recorded its debut EP Newbuild in 1988. After Simpson exited, Price and Massey enlisted DJs Andrew Barker and Darren Partington (known together as the Spinmasters) for 1989's Quadrastate EP, which earned the group a huge club hit with "Pacific." They released the album 808:90, then the single "The Only Rhyme That Bites," recorded with hip-hopper MC Tunes. A series of diverse singles followed, culminating in the 1991 album Ex: El, which featured guest vocals from New Order's Bernard Sumner and Bjork; the experimental Don Solaris in 1996. The 808:88-98 compilation followed in 1998. The boys have been eevr busy since with DJ sets everywhere and are about to release 'prebuild' recorded in 1987 - 8! Rave Tastic!

The Hacker: Michel Amato began his love of techno and all things electronic in Grenoble, with his friends Miss Kittin, Kiko & Oxia. His love of 80s electro pop shines through some of his trax and the one time Hardcore producer now makes some of the finest Detroit tinged electronica and techno there is. His two cult Eps: "Champagne" and "Intimitées" with Miss Kittin for International DJ Gigolos propelled him into the limelight and in 1998 he created the label Goodlife with Olivier from Oxia and Alexandre Reynaud. With LPs under his belt 'Reves Mechaniques', 'Melodies En Sous-Sol' & Miss Kittin & The Hackers 'First Album'and more material in the pipeline this is a much anticipated live debut at Voodoo for Le Hacker!
