**** Aaron Lennon! Apparently he's regarded as the best teenager in europe along with Lionel Messi at Barca... And he's the 2nd player to choose Arsenal over Chelsea - in the space of a week or so!

Looks like Wenger's outmaneuvred Maureen by fielding our youngsters instead of buying experienced players and then buying the best players at an early age! So Wenger's signed the player regarded as the best young English player in the country, how about that then!!!

From Arsenal.com... (hopefully we'll see him against Wigan in the CC semi since he won't be loaned back to Southampton either!)

Theo Walcott (16) has today signed for Arsenal from Championship side Southampton for an initial fee of £5 million which could rise to a maximum of £12 million.

The highly rated youngster has initially joined the Club as a scholar and will turn professional on his 17th birthday on March 16th 2006.

England Youth International Walcott, became the youngest player ever to represent the Southampton first team, coming on as a substitute in the first league match of this season against Wolves, aged just 16 years and 143 days.

Theo, who can play either as a forward or an attacking midfielder, made 13 appearances (scoring five goals) for Southampton this season and also broke into the England under-17 squad one year above his age group, scoring five goals from nine appearances in the 2004/05 season.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “Theo Walcott is a very young player, but has already shown in his performances for Southampton that he is a talented player with huge potential. I also like the fact that he is a versatile player who is incredibly dedicated, shows great determination to succeed and is blessed with electric pace. We are delighted Theo has signed for the Club and will make a fantastic addition to our squad.”

Theo Walcott said: “I’m so pleased to be joining Arsenal, a club I have admired for a long time. Coming to Arsenal will give me the opportunity to work with world class players every day and play football at the highest possible level. It’s a strange day, because I’m also very sad to be moving from Southampton. I’m leaving many friends and some great coaches who have been so important to my career so far, but I leave with many great memories from the club. I’m now really looking forward to meeting my new team mates and working hard as an Arsenal player.”

Walcott is yet to play in the Premiership, but was involved in two FA Youth Cup ties against Arsenal in recent seasons. He was on the bench as a 14 year-old when the two teams met in January 2004, and scored the only goal when the teams met in Southampton in February last season.

Theo will immediately join up with his new team mates and will wear the Arsenal number 32 shirt this season.

Whats the point saying "**** Aaron Lennon", It is good for England that we have 2 more promising youngsters, you should care more about your country than United Nations Arsenal.

No I shouldn't, I'm sure most football fans are more interested in their club than their country. Besides, that fool Martin Jol was trying to make out he's just as good as Walcott... Besides, I wasn't being serious when I said that, but I'm sure Walcott will over shadow him and he might well be another fairly average English Spurs player who'll struggle to get in the squad, nevermind become an England mainstay.

I agree that club always comes before country, in fact, i don't care about the English National team in the slightest...

But i think think that you're gettin a bit carried away (again) Will. He's only a kid, unproven at Premiership level, to say that Wenger has 'outmaneuvred' Mourinho is a little wild...

We'll have to wait and see how he fares...

It is nice for a change though that Wenger has invested in a English player and usually young players that Wenger invests in do turn out to be class players.

As many as Liverpool with the signing of Walcott! In fact if you count Gilbert, who made his league debut on Saturday and Hoyte we have one less than Man U and I'm sure there must be a few more knocking about...

But Walcott looks a very exciting player and special player and his attitude and temperament seems spot on, unlike Rooney's...

You ripped off Leeds and paid £1.5m for him, but if Walcott somehow doesn't work out we'll only pay £5m for him. But Martin Jol tried to make out Lennon's just as good as Walcott - not better, and he's the Spurs boss comparing an Arsenal player to a Spurs player!

But it was fairly obvious Rooney had a bright future ahead of him at a similar age and I think it's fair to say the same for Walcott too - everything I've seen and heard about him is very impressive, he doesn't seem interested in money at all - he just wants to play football and develop.

He doesn't think he's made it just because he's signed for us, he still knows he's got to work hard in training and be patient to get any opportunity to shine. And I've heard about him carrying the physio's bag for him after games and stuff - how many players would do that? Plus he didn't seem over-awed in the slightest in the press conference etc he seemed very calm and level headed.

He's got the touch, composure, pace, quick feet and attitude to do very well I think. As for Wenger signing more English players, I think it's fair to say if another youngster of Walcott's calibre comes along he'll try and sign him - we've been signing a lot of top youngsters without much fanfare that are waiting in the wings at other clubs for the time being...

Just Ashely Cole I think.

David Bently is on loan, the others have been free transfered (Stuart Taylor etc...)

I'm really impressed with Walcott. Think he's got great potential. He scored some incredibly skillful goals, looks like he has some very good talent.

Hope he develops well.
