This week we present a very special guest, straight from Gotham City – Peter Anthony. Known for his legendary sets in various venues throughout the city and intimate loft parties, this man is no stranger to the sounds of the underground.

Gravitating towards dancefloor-moving sounds following his mid-90’s relocation to New York City to head up the A&R Department at Astralwerks, Peter Anthony has made an indelible mark for himself in the dance music industry by taking musical chances and pushing the envelope while still moving the crowd. Instilled with a strong sense of dance music tradition yet with an open mind and ear to the future, you’re just as apt to hear a Chicago acid classic from 1988 as an obscure new electro 12” and many shades in between during the course of a set.

Perhaps best known for his residency at Sleaze Factor, a Monday-night NY clubbers tradition, hosting guests such as Mr. C, "Evil" Eddie Richards, Carl Craig, Pure Science, Nathan Coles, Asad Rizvi, and G-Pal in a down-and-dirty Lower East Side watering hole. Peter's skillful opening sets earned him the praise of many a Sleaze Factor guest, each of whom were ably set up by Peter's mix of house, techno, electro, and acid. He's also shared the decks at events around the world with The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Stacey Pullen, Adam Freeland, Martin Landsky (Poker Flat), Mark Broom, Lee Burridge, Tom Parris, Gavin Hardkiss, Dave Mothersole (KISS-FM, London), Q-Burns Abstract Message (Eighth Dimension, Orlando), Freaky Chakra, Grant Dell (Loaded UK), Silicone Soul and Alex Smoke.

One Sleaze Factor guest, Carl Clarke, resident of Headstart at London’s famous Turnmills was so floored by his abilities that he offered Peter a quarterly residency at the club. This found Peter playing alongside co-residents FC/Kahuna and heavyweights such as Dave Clarke, Josh Wink, Aphex Twin and Rolando (Underground Resistance). "Headstart was a true inspiration to me. A wicked dark room with a big 'ol analog sound system, a trippy green laser, and a bunch of mental people which proved that the spirit of acid house still lives on."

The five years of the New Millenium have taken Peter throughout the US, back to Europe and to Mexico, surprising crowds wherever he’s been. Among the highlights, notable moments include being personally chosen by Mr. C to close his birthday party in the main room of The End, a 2003 Ibiza debut featuring gigs at coveted island clubs Underground and Guarana and an invitation to play the infamous Whoop Whoop party – the first American DJ to grace the decks of this London underground institution in its 10-year existence.

Production has also started to figure into his resume with the release of his first production project, teaming up with long-time Brooklyn Storm Rave scenester Michael Mercer under the remixing guise of the Ol’ Skool Bastids for a remix of Seamless Satori’s “Soultek” on the fledgling Listen To Reason label. Since then some original productions are on the cards, working with programmer/percussionist Michael Sultan.

Summer 2005’s return to Europe saw this up-and-coming new talent on the circuit rocking Circo Loco at DC10 and another triumphant headlining gig at Ibiza Underground with 300 mad partiers screaming ‘uno mas’ until well after daybreak. Peter has returned to his DJ’ing roots, having been asked to do a show on internet-based ‘community radio station’ 90hz.org. His show, Sleaze Factor Sessions encompasses his love of cutting edge electronic dance music, each and every Monday evening.
