Tried something a bit more musical. One for the ears as well as the feet.

this is good stuff, the low synth sounded too loud but i'm only on laptop speakers so its hard to tell.
Also the perc loop that comes in at the end is far too distorted for this type of tune, didnt sound right to me.

LIke the groove, and production sounded good.

Another cracking well structured track. Really interesting elements sitting nicely together with good development.

Rides completely distorting into a fizzy hiss though. They stand out as needing attention as everything else sounds great. Definitely need sorting...

Really really like this.
If I were you I would pay to get this all mastered professionally. Doesn't cost much and I think the tracks themselves are excellent.
They just need a bit of spit and polish to get the most out of them.

cheers for your comments on all my tracks jay. funny that you mentioned the rides - the distrortion and over-compression is actually intentional :)

i just love that hiss and fizziness.

glad your liking them anyway.

this is a great vibe.. really enjoyed this... however the rides to me ruin the whole feel.. dont get me wrong, i love distortion... but it just sounds too abrasive!! its quite a laid nack track, and i feel that when the distortion and fizzy sound enters... its just not nice to listen to... but thats just my opinion... that aside, i would defo play this track!!! good work dude...

good stuff.
Funky, nice groove.

Production wise, I`d say the synth chord stab that comes in around 1:30 is too thin and hits some really nasty top end frequencies as well.
If this sound was a bit thicker and more lush it would work better in the mix.
I agree with the rides. I love the broken up distortedness, but they are just much too loud in the mix.
You could maybe bring up the level of the second funky chordal thing too, it`s lovely but a little lost in the mix.

The bottom end in this is lacking too, the big bassline and kick could fill out more space down low.

It`s a nice tune though, still needs work, but has a real good bit of funk and drive.

ok by popular demand i guess i'll have to pull the rides back a bit. cheers everyone for the comments and i'll update this after the weekend.

ps. this just goes to show the usefullness of this part of the forum. i thought those rides were ok but i'm not above admitting i'm wrong. lets all please start helping each other out a lot more because i'm not the only one to notice that the post to reply ratio is a little on the high side in favour of the posts.

yeah man, totally.
I used to try to check out every new track posted and make some kind of helpful comment.
Personally I`ve been very very busy in the studio so I¬ve just not had the time.
But I do kinda catch up and bulk listen eventually.
You are right though.
