Who uses one; which one?

I am interested in one with up to 16 ch. - should be affordable, too.
in addition to that i would like to use the desk gain in an analog overdrive stylee. what are your suggestions?

I heard soundcraft M16 or even M12 are good, or mackies. or the yamaha mg series. but no behringer ;)

both a little pricey though but i am just gatering ideas.

possible 12 channels would do the job as well.

just interested in opinions!

i've got the smaller yamaha mg12/4 and i love it. 4 years gigging with it and not a single problem.

If size is not an issue I suggest the Mackie 16ch 8Bus. ;)
Should be able to find them fairly cheap nowadays.

MAckie are good, but I just don`t like their crispy eq.
I love soundcraft, but I haven`t played with any of their stuff for years, so couldn`t really comment on it.
It used to be great.

steve, what are you using? or have you gone entirely digital in this respect? just out of interest!

thanks to all who replied so far ;)

well you can easily drive the channels and get a nice bassy warmth.

eqs are ok... not amazing but up to the job.

well the studio is waylaid awaiting a move when the boys sort their act out.
so I`m totally digital now, whether I want to or not.
Can honestly say I`m not missing the old gear.

I hate the mackies - eq sounds too harsh and the desks sound sterile and completely lacking in warmth. Not sure what you're price range is but the A+H mix wizards are worth a look is you're after a 16 ch but may be a little pricey. Heaps of warmth and brilliant eq's n flexibility. Soundcrafts are pretty good too but I don't think they're as good as they were a while back... You looking 2nd hand or new?

When you overdrive a mackie it sounds perfectly phat and warm.

i've got a mackie 1604 and its pretty good. The 8 bus one's are better, if u can afford it. If i had the cash i'd definetly get a 24/8 or 32/8

For the money i think the mackie's are a damn good buy, and they'll sit quite happyil in the red all day long if u wanna get a crusty sound.
