doesnt matter what profile you have, the customisation is usually all HTML based and you can get the code's all over the net for them there are tons of myspace editors

and it will all look like crap anyways

rhythmtech

i know. but when it gives you the code it tells you to paste it into your personal details area. but on a musicians profile you dont have a personal area. so i pasted it into my musicians profile but it only affects that perticular page and all the rest are then just like normal... and if i try to update personal info i have to overwrite the code.

you could try and edit the html using a program. ive never used myspace but it should work.

download a demo of dreamweaver copy the code (edit-view source) and paste it into a blank notepad, save as blah.html,
open it in dreamweaver and you should be able to type where u want. as i said im not 100% if the code generated is all viewable in the source, but its worht a shot.

i pasted the code to edit the layout/design etc in my "about me" section on the edit profile, on the music page this would be the bio section (i would guess?) - then any info you want in there type in before the code (well thats what i did but not on a musicpage) and leave a few gaps (again this is what i did and it worked for me) maybe a techny person who knows about it properly would say differnet?

summerofsam would be the guy to ask

dont understand mate, ive got a musicians page too and i dont see what you mean? it's the same but with the added music player... Just get the code you want for the relevant action i.e background colour, use a background image etc etc and cut and paste the code.

the more effort gone into it the shitter they look i say anyway, nice plain background, no bullshit images etc etc and just get the tunes up i say

although ive noticed alot of people saying they used Thomas's Myspace editor

But on the other hand, what use is a profile network to media mogul when its users become outspoken against its owner & just use up its bandwidth all the time without ever clicking the ad's. That would be intetesting? To take it down from the inside

If people are so tight with other 'friends' on MySpace, why not pick up the phone and ring them, drop them a mail or something? That's what I normally do with my friends :)

Sunil

yeah. nothing really to do at all with having friends on there, i deny more people than i accept, its simply a fantastic promotional tool. That's a fact, bullshit aside, ive said once and il say again i couldnt give a shit who owns it, and if people are that against Murdoch for owning it then their views are pretty much null and void if they use myspace. All a load of hot air for nothing.

i don't see it as that useful. when everyone has 9000 friends instead of, say, 100, then how can you meaningfully filter that kind of info? sooner or later something else, which is more effective, will supplant myspace

rhythmtech
27-03-2006, 10:10 PM
you dont have to accept everyone as a friend.. i, for one, will be using it purely for promotion/networking. got enough friends in the real world to deal with.

myspace is a great marketing/networking tool, and everbody is on to it. any musician who doesnt have a page is missing out. i think i must have searched for about 30 of my fav bands/artists, out of 30 i think 1-2 didnt have a page.

myspace is also a good reminder of how many talented, unsigned musicians their are out there, ive come across many really talented bands/artists, so much so that id probably say about 60% of the unsigned music i have come across is of an excellent standard. it serves as a good kick up the ass for anyone (signed or unsigned)

errrr read my post again. I said i deny more than i add. I have about 90 friends, if i'd added everyone who added me, id be up to about 2000. You only have to go on and see just how many people from within the techno scene are on there, including producers, record labels, djs etc etc.

Of course its a fantastic network/promotions tool, i think people need to stop being so silly about it. Ive had labels ask for solo ep's, ive had tracks playlisted on a couple of radio stations, ive had other labels and producers get in touch and ask to do some remix swaps etc etc all through just checking out on myspace, and i didnt have to do anything more than i normally do when promoting stuff online, and it was free. Well except for the price of my soul of course.

how anyone can not see that as a good thing or not i dont know, i couldnt give a toss who owns it because sure as hell the owner couldnt give a toss about me!

Actually youll find the owner does care about whos on it. He didnt pay 580 million for a service which is full of people who done click on adverts. But that’s not the point, murdock publications but put lies and propaganda around the world and I for one aren’t prepared to set that aside and help this bitch get rich

Of course its a fantastic network/promotions tool, i think people need to stop being so silly about it.

Typical scotty grey, anyone who doesnt do things the scott grey way is either sillly, weird or bizarre. The reason you attack like that is because your really defensive about your way of life.
I put it down to having not quite mastered the 'myspace angle'. Keep on living in your own little naive world Scotty. Your views are pretty much null and void to me anyways as you don’t even have an interest in what goes on the in the world, fair game.

P.S ill send you a link to my profile when im on and well hook up :eyes:

not attacking at all, and i dont have a "way of life". I just do what i want to do, and i dont really care how people view me or how i go about things. What i dont do is speak up so feverently about something only to turn around and say "actually i might join". Just find it odd, no need to get so het up danny boy, obviously means alot to you as you explained in msn. No need for petty comments, one thing im not is naive, i have just as much as an interest in what goes on in the world, but life really is too short to worry about someone like Rupert Murdoch IMO
