Retro-Vert and Nyte Biscuit present a night of acid house past, present and future in the guise of OOCHY KOOCHY!

Mark Broom and Milo Smee's 'Nyte Biscuit' have been running intimate acid house nights in Shoreditch for over a year, while Ben Sims and Sunny's 'Retro-Vert' have been putting on occasional nights over the past 4 years, and also co-promote Split. This is the first of many collaborations and a new night for a new venue.

With a night named after one of Baby Ford s most recognized acid-house tracks (Oochy Koochy) we just had to have the man join in the fun. Peter Ford is without a doubt one of the most important figures of the UK underground acid/techno scene. For the last fifteen years, his records have been innovative, challenging and all equally excellent. His ultimate classic Ford Trax, released in 1988 on legendary label Rhythm King and the poppier Ooo & The World Of Baby Ford have paved the way for hundreds of musicians in the early days of acid house, but it is with the hard hitting BFORD9 that he started exploring more minimalist soundscapes. By the time he released his fourth album, Ford had many side projects under his belt, amongst which Minimal Man is one of the better known, and had set up three labels - Ifach with Mark Broom with whom he had started recording some more alternative material, Trelik with long time collaborator Ian "Eon" Loveday, and the more artist orientated Pal SL.

Tyree Cooper is now regarded as one of the most influential artists in the international house scene. Growing up on Chicago s south-side he signed his first record deal with the Chicago-based underground label D.J. International in 1986. The first 12" ÿ‡ "I Fear The Night" (with female vocalist 'Chic') - promptly became an underground classic in Chicago. Other hits followed: "Acid Over"(1988), "Turn Up The Bass" (1988/89),"'Let's Get Hyped" (feat. Kool Rock Steady, 1989), "Let the Music Take Control"(1989) and "Hardcore Hip House" (1989). This was the time when Tyree Cooper created a crossover version of house music together with his friend and fellow DJ 'Fast Eddie' Smith which was known as hip house. It then caused a furor on the hip hop scene, while today rap vocals are a common feature of the commercial house scene. Cooper founded his own label in 2002: Supa Dupa Recordings and continues to go from strength to strength, DJing all over the world as one of house music s originators.

It all started in the summer of 89... Mark Broom went on holiday to Tenerife and in the clubs they were spinning the now legendary acid house music. On his return to england Broom went on a search for this music .. found it .. Bought some turntables and the birth of his musical career was born. After a few years of playing at peoples parties mark decided to try his hand at making music. Through a friend he was introduced to Ed and Andy from Black Dog Productions and together they created Brooms first musical ideas. The studio used for these first recordings was called UXB studios and was run by Dave Hill. After many visits to UXB dave asked mark if he would be into making some tracks together and from that day their musical and later business partnership was born.

In 1994 they started pure plastic recordings which has played host to many of marks musical productions ranging from the landmark "angie is a shoplifter" lp through to the recent "rave days" ep. Mark has also recorded on many of the worlds best labels including A13, Ferox, Ifach, Speaker Attack, Mosiac, Bpitch Control and new electronica and as a DJ Mark has spun at some of the worlds best clubs ranging from Belgium s Fuse club to Spain s La Real.

Ben Sims had his first decks at age ten. Schooled on mix tapes by the likes of Bambatta, DJ Cheese and Froggy, and with his musical roots in reggae, funk, disco, electro, rare groove and hip-hop, by his mid teens he was spinning at after-hours blues houses and a few years later came the acid house explosion with pirate radio and clubs. Skip forward ten or so years and you ll find he s one of the UK s biggest techno exports and a much in demand producer.

Ben runs 2 main labels (Ingoma/Theory) plus other occasional projects (Native/Symbolism/killabite/Hardgroove) each one with a distinctive sound, ranging from hardgroovin and funk driven techno and house that is the trademark of his DJ sets, via tribal, to melodic electronica. In a genre that propagates sound-a-likes, Ben Sims productions have gained widespread attention and feature regularly in the boxes of his own personal heroes like Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier and Rolando. He has remixed Jeff Mills, Green Velvet, Blake Baxter, Marco Bailey, Chris Liebing and Adam Beyer and is currently working on his debut solo album to be released later this year.

The past 8 years have seen Ben constantly touring and tearing up dancefloors at legendary clubs & parties like- Liquid room, Sonar, Limelight, Rex, Zouk, I love Techno, Tresor, Awakenings, Fabric, Florida 135, La Real, Dance Valley and Atomic jam plus hundreds of others with his tight, energetic and skilful brand of 3 deck wizardry.

Oochy Koochy s line up will be completed by residents SOS and Kruton for what is set to be a night of proper acid house madness!
