TR-909 - version differences...EPROMS/Serial Numbers..?

ok so im on the lookout for a new 909 after selling my old one last year...

after a bit of pokin' about i found out that the 1st version of the EPROM used in the 909 is dodgy MIDI wise - hold down TRACK1 on your 909 and then Power it on and find out what Version you have..i think there were 4 software/eprom versions, i could be well wrong.

also there are supposed to be differences with the sounds on various machines depending on the Serial number...obviously a few touch ups within the 1 year of it's production, i wonder how noticeable?

i thought every 909 sounded slightly different cause of the analog nature of it.

i must try doing that track1 thing with it

geezer used mine once when he played here, he said the kick and the ride sounded differnet than the one he normally giged with
