DirtyBass Records DB008 Remix Competition

Right then, I`ve decided to put a remix on DirtyBass Records, something I have not yet done.

Rather than commision a remix, I`m putting the job up for grabs, and whoever gives me the remix that entertains me the most, will get released on 008.

There are a few pre-requisits, I`ll list them below.

I`m not interested at all in DJ tools of any description, I`m looking for peak time tunes that really stand on their own 2 feet.

ANY style of techno is acceptable. Max bpm = 140. however, if you wanna slow it down and do a 120 dub house mix, that`s fine with me, the more interesting and surprising the better.

The tracks available for remix are all taken from DB007 - Back on form ep.

there is no deadline as such.

You can either post final versions here, or pm them to me.
There`ll be no voting system or anything, I`ll just release the 2 tunes that I find most interesting.
I will, depending on results be using 1-2 remixes for the next record. From different or the same people, so you can submit more than one remix of more than one tune if you like.

Wicked, I was unsure what could be done to this, as it was about as hard and manic as you could go, so I didn`t really think there was any point in anyone doing another hard techno version.
However, this captures the mania of the original, but strips everything down. Really good stuff.

Ah I love minimal and atmospheric stuff like this. This remix has been growing on me the more I listen to it actually. Would be perfect for layering in a 3 deck set with some wierd percussion over the top - Marco Carola Style.

Can't fault the production that much except to say that I think you've used a little too much reverb on the drums. The sub is great.

Might try and darken things a little more with the vocal............but who knows

Just an update.
I have nearly settled into the new studio, and should have the net sorted this week, so postal malarky probably won`t be necessary.
DB008 will still be delayed until I decide on the remix for it, but also there will be a very very special guest on the record to celebrate the final vinyl release.
The label will be moving to mp3 only as from DB009 as I will focus my vinyl output to a new project to run alongside Singularity.

really liking this, good production too, the only thing i'd change is have a few more little changes to the main percussion here and there, as it gets a little repetetive for my tastes.

Liking this remix a lot mate, got that very pleasing brummie shuffle going on and the production sounds spot on, to my gammy ears at any rate.

Got to admit I wanted to hear more of the vocal though, probably just cause I love it in the original track... the way you mangled it with fx at the start of the track worked for me & I reckon it'd work well used at some other points through the tune as well. Still a top track though.

I'll see you tomorrow night, though you're not coming round mine for the afterparty armed with tomato juice again you calamitous bastard :laughing:

Well I`m working through all these remixes, and there`s some really great stuff here.
I don`t want to feedback on each remix, as I don`t want it to end up with everyone comparing the feedback to each other and it ending up with me ranking people against each other.
Let me just say that overall the standard is surprisingly high, so thank you, and keep em coming if you haven`t yet posted, and please, everyone give feedback, a lot of the work here deserves it.

I haven`t yet decided on a winner for the vinyl release, but I will also be picking a further 3 now, to go on the Digital release, which will come out earlier than the vinyl.
