Just been thinking recently what with 'Drop It' by 3 Steps Ahead and So by Nightraver being given the Hardstyle makeover.

Do you think that Hardstyle will be classed as the new Gabba (If it isn't already!!).

How many more Hardcore tracks in the future will be given the Hardstyle treatment?

Do you think this is a good or bad thing for the hardstyle scene?.

Personally I think a genre should be trying to progress itself rather than regress by using the same old samples and not doing anything original or innovative.

It's becoming more and more difficult to find Hardstyle tunes that are not either...

A - ****ing Terrible (Stand Up Suntec! Final Countdown?!?! WTF)
B - Use the same basslines and Filtered Kick
C - Uses the same sounds in every track.

Don't mean to bitch guys but I just don't want to see this genre of music go down the pan because it's run out of fresh ideas.

I'd like to know what others think.

Will :)

A - **** Terrible (Stand Up Suntec! Final Countdown?!?! WTF)

It really is pathetic And from a label that I really like
Suntec hav had some really good stuf such as Cool Grey- Phase & The Second Chase E.P, This Final Countdown is just SH*T!

Is it that there is more buying ther stuf so they put out any old crap just to make money?

Good point.

I think (Some) labels are only interested in the £££ these days which is a shame.

i think its as simple as this, as with any genre that sorta blows up. The volume of tracks coming out increases, therefor the amount gash comin out also increases, as quality control for labels goes down.

In the end it comes down too us and the shops buying in the vinyl too just say no too the rubbish. We will just ave too look that lttle bit harder for the good tunes.

I think a few months back hardstyle was sounding very similiar but down here in plymouth it's gone absolutely mental again,so many new tracks pushing the boundaries, loads of new kicks and alot of fresh ideas. there alot of new labels releasing there first track and there top top top notch.

No way, it's not the new gabba imo. Gabba is gabba. Hard trance is hard trance.

Time to stop comparisons..... Time to move forward??????????

so if I hear trance with techno influences.. I can say.. will trance be the new techno? wehhh :P

no, hardstyle is hardstyle and hardcore is hardcore. (gabba)
recent hardstyle may be having some influences of hardcore, but hey.. every music genre has influences of other genres

hardcore (gabba) ripped a lot from hip-hop back in 1995, and trance also covers a lot of 70s 80s tracks.

:D

Some may not agree but a lot of the hardstile uses Hard house stile Brakes, I Think that Many Hardstile producers hav taken influence's from Hard trance & hard house...............

I couldn't believe it when I heard that Final Countdown track.... Oh dear!

Naaah Hardstyle will always take a few elements from Gabber/Hardcore... you have to remember that all the "big" dutch/italian hardstyle Dj's now started off playing Hardcore all them years ago...

Where do you put someone like Angerfist?? It's not far off cross genre!!!!!

Download these two mixes...one hardstyle and one gabba.

They are completely different but do have a few similar elements.
