Is it just me or is this getting a bit silly? Why doesn't Fergie just buy the players he needs and let them play in their best/natural position?

Cos utd are sliding fast, and the fact they aint got no money.

You dont progress unless u buy players for positions which need filling. And lets be honest, utd need a new midfield

With all due respect to Smith he was on Fire when he first signed for Utd as a striker and scored some great goals, they signed Rooney who is obviously world class and it moved Smith into midfield.

I like Smith as a player and his attitude and its is good that utd have a commited player like smith who can play in 2 positions and give 110% every game without moaning.

Sliding fast ay - obviously not that fast as still the only side in the country to even come close to challenging Chelsea last season!

With three games to go we still had a slim chance of catching 'em - pretty much came down to (possibly) winner takes all in 3rd to last game when we played them as we would have had the momentum if we'd won - you scousers only caught up with us on points after then when we'd already cemented second place.

All ifs and buts but what you can't deny is that despite being supposedly on the slide we still finished ahead of whats apparently your strongest team for years.
